That looks very nice, good luck with it.
  2. Hi Mick, thanks for your comprehensive response. Very much appreciated.

    Restoration project

Hi, your question is a bit lost within this thread. Start a new one in the Alpina section and/or get in touch with Sharkfan on this forum.

    Dangerous Wiper incident.

Sympathise here, wiper failures in the rain can be really scary (obviously!). Happened to my first E39 at motorway speed coming down the M40 from Coventry, but luckily the traffic was light - thing is, my wife was driving the car and I wasn't even in it. She'd only driven it a handful of times in the whole nine years I'd owned it and she wasn't happy! It was a wiper relay switch failure.

Yeah, he says in the blurb that it needs attending to.

    E34 525i SE Auto

Less than £3k - I guess that's good and reasonable? Rather than a bit on the low side for an unknown reason?
  10. Looks lovely, but that M62 engine is just trouble waiting to happen! Never again! It's a straight six if I ever end up with one of these again.

    2000 E39 530i Sport

I'd buy it for the wheels and stick them on a tourer.
  13. You mean your blue E39 has gone Steve?
  14. No, mobile is same ending 660.
  15. This was my car, certainly one of the best left.

E39 Tourer and Saloon Length Difference?

I have no idea what you mean.....
  17. I'm assuming that the sport bumpered tourer is a tad longer than the sport bumpered saloon, but by how much? When I google the data, there are various figures given across a few sites. Does anyone have a definitive figure to hand? Thanks

E39 Tourer and Saloon Length Difference?

Not much to say in all honesty, always liked them and would like to find a 530 in properly decent nick and at least as good as my 540 was. Whether that's possible, I have no idea..... I'm happy to wait around for a few months to see what might come up, but I'm also fighting demons which are pushing me towards a year or two old SEAT Leon Cupra, either the 290 hatch or more likely the 300 4WD ST tourer. Again, that's a car that I've been interested for quite a while. Very different cars I know, pricewise too, but my taste is rather eclectic!

E39 Tourer and Saloon Length Difference?

...which is where that extra 30mm comes from I guess...

E39 Tourer and Saloon Length Difference?

    There's a slight possibility....

E39 Tourer and Saloon Length Difference?

30mm longer then, I'd have guessed more if asked but that's good to know.

    A bunch of fives.

With no reserve offered, the owner is taking a gamble as whatever is finally bid, be it £15k or £5k, he has to accept it. When I was looking to use them when considering the sale of the 540 a few months back, they refused to accept my reserve requirement which I thought was very realistic. They price cars at the lower end of the scale accordingly to suit them and not the seller, as the buyer has to stump up at least another £600 in fees which some aren't obviously prepared to do.
