What is the greatest OEM E39 wheel of all time?

I didn't choose 49s, just happened to come with the car. Still, I think they look rather good and despite 'only' being 17" they look even better with the sport suspension. Quite rare too.

IMHO, M5 wheels belong on M5s only. And I love your Paras too - keep it standard!

    Poor depo angel eyes

Three years ago the original units on my E39 needed replacing. I looked at the non Hella options, including Depo, but at the end of the day I wanted the real deal and went for the Hellas. OK, they cost more but they are worth it.

My E39 in Germany - Again....

Last June, for the third year running, I took mine over to the Nurburgring for a few days. Anyhow, whilst there we always have a 'cultural' day out away from the track and this year it was the Mohne Dam which was a 120 mile drive from Nurburg and up past Cologne along to the Ruhr Valley. This, as many might know, was the first dam to be breached by the Dambusters 633 Sq back in May 1943, causing havoc in the Ruhr Valley. What an incredible sight and to stand mid way on it looking over the reservoir (on the other side of the dam in the pics) and imagining those Lancasters approaching that very spot all those years ago was thought provoking to say the least. If you're ever out that way, please take time out to visit - you won't be disappointed. As for V42, a 1,300 mile return trip in all and ran like a dream all the way - again...! She may have turned 15 years old this month but what the hell....... .

    A 2003 E39 for £8495!

OK, so it's a late 525 Sport with only 45k on the clock, but isn't this a little optimistic of the dealer....?! http://www.jamespaul.co.uk/bmw-525i-sport-only-45.000-miles-in-west-sussex-surrey-3927983 I'm not considering it by the way, just couldn't believe my eyes! But then, James Paul do have some rather high prices at times - and their stuff is hardly mint or concours from what I see when I stop past every so often. Can it really be worth over £8k??

    A 2003 E39 for £8495!

But the odd thing is, the relatively few remaining low mile and mint (or pretty close to) condition E39s are generally going to be snapped up by people like us - the enthusiasts. But then, we wouldn't pay these ridiculous prices, would we? So, are these dealers just chancing their arm on someone 'not in the know' coming along? Guess so. I almost rang James Paul today to let them know that they'd made a mistake with the price on their website.....

    Anyone going Nurburgring this weekend?

No, but will be making my third trip over there on 28 June - can't wait.

    Interested in B10 3.3

There's a 2000/W regd 3.3 available not too far away from me at a BMW 'specialist' independant dealer. Alpina Blue, 105k miles, FSH, manual and up for £5750. Looks to be in good nick from the pics but will be seeing it up close and personal this weekend. So, what to look for? From reading this part of the forum obviously service history is way up there and I understand also that oil consumption can be an issue. This particular one is a manual, I'd prefer auto like my current E39. Did the 3.3 6 cyl come with an auto box? If so I may wait for one of those. I've also noticed that some E39 B10s have BMW roundels on bonnet and boot, but others have Alpina roundels. Was that an option? Any other tips or advice gratefully received.

    Bromley (Kent) Pageant - 08 June 2014

Thanks for the link - looking forward to it...! Despite the rain, and being on grass, it doesn't look too boggy!
  13. Just for a laugh (and not expecting anything to come of it) today I submitted an entry for the "One Make Parking" and "Modern Classic" display for my E39. Well, it's been accepted so I await my special badge to enable me to mingle amongst more worthy entrants...! But then again, why not? Anyone else thinking of entering? If you are, then you'll get accepted I'd say, subject to space available. Come on, let's get a few E39s in there. To those who aren't aware of this event, it's billed as the world's largest one day car and classic meet. It's only £5 if accepted which includes the car and two occupants. Otherwise it's £10 each on the gate for normal entry - bargain...! Better get detailing.....

No, not that one but the one before it on Autotrader - from James Paul in Horsham. There's three or four I've found of that age and price. Seems like a fair price.

What did you do to your E39 today ?

Never ceases to amaze me how many good looking E39s are still about and in excellent condition - this is certainly one example of the many here on the forum.

    Sahara Sand!

I'd heard about this stuff being blown our way and then getting dumped onto us with the overnight rain. Came out this morning to a well dusted E39..! Still, only took an hour or so to get it back to its normal self.

What did you do to your E39 today ?

Hi Jonesy - I'm near to you and have sent you a PM.
  21. I see myself as my E39's last owner, of only two. It will be a sad day when I despatch her to the big BMW retirement home in the sky....
  22. Funnily enough, I might be looking for a cheap Merc V8 later in the year....

What did you do to your E39 today ?

Hi Jonesy - The Halfords mats, were they specific to the E39? I'm looking to replace mine. Thanks
  25. It may not make sense to some, but I'd spend 1500 odd quid on fixing my auto box if need be.
