    E61 535d Touring M-Sport - SOLD

Looks great this!! I'd have it but I'm after a manual 530/525 really! This is the most tempting Auto i've seen though!

Possibly looking at getting an E61

Thanks for the honest response! I think I'll take this into some heavy consideration. I went to look at an E61 today. 530d 115k miles and seemed well serviced. But it wasn't without it's problems. Passenger restraint fault Rear wiper wasn't working (just made a grinding noise) Panoramic roof didn't want to open. I walked away but what left me most disappointed was how basic the car seemed. I guess it was almost a standard edition model or something, but that iDrive seemed pointless!! Just change the temperature through it, open up some BMW contact numbers, check your range or use it for the radio! I dunno, I was just left a little underwhelmed! I like the shape & size though! And comfort!
  3. HI everyone! I've recently been given a pay rise to fund a new car at work. I don't think my bosses are too happy with me running around in my beat up old Renault Clio (despite the fact that it's hella reliable & does crazy MPG for a naturally asperated petrol, it is untidy and slower than most HGV's from a standing start!). Plus I'm doing a lot more miles per year now. I did about 20,000 last year. So I want something comfier and yet reliable! (and I'm about to move further away from work so this will increase!) I'm not into buying brand new cars though, and would much rather spend £4-£5k on something second hand and get it paid off as quickly as possible. I have a few decent trips planned this year and so was thinking the extra space of an estate might be ideal really. At first I was looking at Merc W211's. But as most have auto boxes (whcih I've never really been a fan of) and I've no experience with Mercs really, I started looking at BMW's as I have some experience with these owning an E36 328i Sport on the side. So I started looking at E61's (Diesel versions). I've read up a few things online about them, but wondered if anyone could direct me to a buyers guide or anything? Or let me know what I should be looking at if I go look at some? I'm not put off by general maintenance. Suspension etc. I've managed at home before on other cars. Clutches/gearboxes are a little more difficult but again I can usually find some way to work on them. I've read about swirl flaps which don't seem to difficult to resolve. I've come across a couple with the faulty air suspension at the rear. Again, expensive but seems like a fairly easy fix. DPF's are what put me off a bit. Cars in my price range are going to be over 100,000 miles and I'm worried if I buy and E61 diesel with these miles I'm going to have to replace the DPF straight away. I have to join a motorway wherever I go from my house, so I think my lifestyle could manage maintaining/regenerating a DPF. Really is there any way to check the DPF is on its way out? Finally, I notice all seem to come with iDrive installed? I've never used this system so pardon my ignorance: - Do any have DAB radios? - Can you plug iPhones in to them to play music from a phone? Sorry for the long post! Thanks for the help in advance!
