Good find that, I work for the BMW group and get staff discount on genuine parts and and paid £65 for mine and thought that I was doing well at that price.

Nice find,   how did you work out that the sensors were the same. I did know that Landrover use a similar gearbox model though.

Since owning mine, nearly 14 years, all I have run it on is standard cheapest unleaded. It's always run well.

Considering that you say it needs a little bit of "tarting up" it looks remarkably very nice, interior is very tidy. Previous owners have obviously have loved this car.
Looks like this car is from the Portsmouth area where I am originally from judging by the TR in the registration and looks like it's still on its original dealer plates as Snows are in Portsmouth.

02 looks great too, my all time favourite BM.

Getting back onto the private plate bit, I have one on my car and it means nothing to me. Just looks different. I do agree the the ones that are made to look like something that there not are cocks. I came by mine on my first e28 many years ago, I paid 370 for a tidy 525e when nobody wanted them with UOU1T on it, some one once said that I could make it look like UQUIT . After 5 years of owner ship I found out that its value was £750. Sold said 525e for £400 and transferred the plate onto my M535i hoping people would think it's an older E12  I like it and means shag all to me.

Mines a bit of a garage queen, use a Z3 as a daily driver, whilst out poodling today with a little bit of lead boot, managed to get 20.1. I can live with that.

As the title says, did you drive your E28 today.
I did, made the effort to drive it today on "drive it day" to make awareness of the classic car movement. First time that I have actually gone out of my way to do this. 60 mile round trip to see my old mum and saw plenty of other classic and vintage cars out on the road.
Good feeling, although a bird did decide to crap all over the bonnet ( feathered type ) thats appreciation for you.

By checking the MOT history it can reveal a lot about its past and possibly how well it's been cared for.

    Hi Gary, good call.

Production studios are sometimes known for making cars look good or changing their identity but if the registration is correct for that car the DVLA records says that it is a blue 1.8 BMW, still MOT'ed and currently on sorn. The MOT history check doesn't look to bad either, it does outline some previous welding but I have seen a lot worse MOT history on some E28s on fleebay.

Even only a lowly 1.8, as Gary says, could have been a good source of parts, nice chrome bumpers maybe?

Can't believe that they would destroy the E28 in the new sky 1 series Stan Lee's lucky man.

Whether it was a good one or not, that's another one that bites the dust.

Good to get a selection of 5s together. Looking forward to next year.

For that amount of dosh I would want it as standard as possible, as Duncan says, at least the proper wheels on it.

Hi NRA, been looking around at E28s for sale in general as we all probably do on the net and I see the M535i that you were buying is up for sale again and no longer reserved in their advert, what happened?

Yes, I prefer the old days, nothing about being an old fart, everything seemed so much easier then. People actually talked to each other. My twin 18 year old boys have not known life without WIFI, social media etc and when I try to explain to them how it was they look at me as though I am off another planet.

Hi Darren, yes I have encountered this, I know the sound you mean and it's difficult to explain, it's like a chinging noise imeadatily after the engine has fired up like if you have held the ignition on very so slightly after initial firing up, this sort of noise was more commonly noticeable on older 70s cars like Jaguars and Triumph 2500. I don't think it is anything to worry about, just a carataristic of older technology gearbox design.

Blimey, I must be seriously out of touch with the prices for good ones of these. I wasn't saying that this was too much, just surprised that these are commanding near 10k. I know that there is a big difference between "ok,good and excellent" but price guides in classic magazines price guides must be seriously out of touch.
i know that mine being an auto will hurt its value as these are less sort after but I have been humming and arring about selling mine and consider it being quite standard as from the factory and in what I would consider in very good condition with a well documented history right back to the first owner and thought that if I was lucky I was going to ask about 5k for it and maybe not quite achieving this.

Maybe I am under selling myself and if I consider selling I should set my sights a little higher? Also I should get my agreed insurance evaluation looked at as currently my agreed value is set at 6k which is a little higher than the current price guides recommend.

    Happy motoring and ownership.

Yep, me to. Everyone to their own but I do like originality. We must be the only two E28 owners who like the metrics, just put mine back on for the winter so I can referb the E34 BBS style wheels that I have been running on and really liking the look it's now back on the originals.
May just keep them on to be different.
