PDC parking sensor - discontinued part number?

Hi 3drstretch Mine is the straight one. Really bad photo of my part on the right compared to the one you can buy on the left. Both are the straight version but with a different shape inside the connector. Will it fit?

What did you do to your E39 today ?

Fitted a new third brake light socket. Next up: WHEEL WOBBLE!
  3. Hi everyone, I used to be on here with an E28, now got an E39. I have the common problem of a faulty parking sensor. I've done the clicky noise test and moved the sensor to another position - definitely the sensor that's gone, and it's having none of the WD40 treatment. My part number appears to be different from the ones available online. Mine says this: 602 414 6 911 838 AI 02 04 24/02/03 688.632 3 ...And inside the connector the shape of the plastic moulding is different - there's an offset plastic tab instead of a symmetrical arrangement on the ones you can buy. Anyone had the same issue? Can I buy 66206989069 (the one that comes up online) and make it fit with careful use of a Stanley knife? Many thanks...

going to view an E34 535i - buying advice please

Thanks for the info. Possibly slightly worrying he hasn't kept it long? He either writes a good advert or copied it all from the last one! Agree on the price, 1k tops. I'm more familiar with E28s so want to know if the tapping noise is anything to worry about / any other mechanical bits to check / common problems.
  5. Hi All, I'm going to view a 1990 535i Sport Manual with 168k on the clock: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1730527.htm What should I look out for? What do you think would be a sensible offer? If it turns out it's not my cup of tea I'll gladly pass on my thoughts to others. Thanks in advance Jim

white E28 at Weston rally sprint

Saw a white 528i at Weston airfield yesterday, stripped inside, bumpers taken off, throwing stars. Looked very nice. Anyone here?

    Alpinas not all from Nottingham?

cool, thanks Pad, that's really useful to know because in my head I always wanted one with a Notts plate! Love your previous cars. Got a friend near Brighton who's into his old Vauxhall Vivas/Magnums, Audi Quattros, old Mercs etc etc...
  10. Hi all, I'm having a first look at the Alpina market, not really considered one before. Now I grew up in Nottingham and I was of the belief that all Alpinas came through Sytners, indeed most of the ones you see have Nottingham number plates. So when I'm looking through the classifieds how do you explain the ones that don't have a Nottingham reg? Does it mean they've had a private plate some time in the past / are they replicas / generally fishy....??????

    Polaris 528i

Derin, I could look at those photos for hours. Apart from sending my heart racing with pictures of your cars, what I really like about your projects is that we learn a bit about the person too. As someone who is also not a trained mechanic I like it when you say you get others to help with jobs you can't do (although you're clearly much more skilled than you like to say). You are never boastful and you give someone like me hope that I might one day "project manage" a car restoration with my limited hands-on experience. I much prefer reading your detailed forum posts to sanitised write-ups in car magazines so please keep it up. You are certainly in a very small group of people who are in the position to put time and money into cars which may not have mass appeal or high market value. Sad to read that you might not do another E28. It would be interesting to hear how you compare this project to the white E28 from last year (effort, condition, ....value). Have you heard much from the white one's new owner? Jim P.S. Using those E38 rims is the single best thing you can do for an E28. Discuss!

    US to Euro conversion?

I guess the answer to your question is no it's not worth it after shipping and import duty. But a diesel E28 with all the toys and no rust would be a nice novelty over here. My brother-in-law imported a Porsche 912 from South Carolina and I always said I would try something similar.

    US to Euro conversion?

How about this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0194573370 What would it take to convert the bumpers to Euro spec? I'm going to Orlando in 2 weeks. Currently hovering over the bid button....
