    Boot locked help :(

well, never seen a boot lid with no keyhole in it, what would be the point of not having one?? sorry if my comment seemed a little sarcastic just never ever seen a boot with nowhere to put a key in on a saloon E39

    Pixel Repair Company

Hi all, just got my instrument cluster back from having the pixel repair done and fitted it to the car. I am very pleased with the service I got from a company called Revtronic, based in Bradford. Max 3 day turn round and a very good job done for £80. Found them on the well known auction site. All the best

    Brake discs.

Agree about the big hammer, mine were a pig to come off the first time, you have just got to give it a good whack. And put some copper grease on the flange before you fit the new ones, makes it way easier to come off the next time. Good luck.

    instrument cluster replace

Hi all, my pixels are bad and was wondering if it is just as easy to replace the whole cluster with a second hand one off the same car or get the pixels done.? Is there any issue with the mileage readout or is that stored elsewhere in the cars modules. TIA for any info.

    DISA valve re-build?

Hi all, has anyone re-built there DISA valve with the large pin kit? (M54) I understand the oem valve has a pin that MAY come loose and drop into the intake manifold. I was wondering if this is something I should do as a priority. Any advise appreciated. Cheers,

    DISA valve re-build?

So, job all done, the plastic bit under the flap broke when I was trying to remove it so I had to saw the flap in half to push that out to remove it. Got the orange seal out and put the new O ring in there and cleaned up the flap gate so the new flap did not stick. Gave it a test flight after fitting and all good. Like Dan said, peace of mind. And by the way, the pin was loose but not protruding out, it came out very easy. Car has 70k on her. So would highly recommend doing this mod. Thanks for all the advise.

    Which phone for my car?

It would depend on what interface you have in the armrest. Mine had an armrest that took a Motorola flip phone, which I have in a BMW box. I have removed the armrest and fitted a plain one with the storage bin underneath as I have fitted a Grom unit which has bluetooth to connect any phone. Do the last 7 of your vin online at https://www.mdecoder.com and scroll down to multimedia to see what phone was spec for your car. Go from there. Good luck
  22. Hi all, installed the Grom BT3 kit recently and I am finding the microphone a bit low. I can hear the incoming calls as clear as a bell but they say I am a quiet. I have played with the phone and head unit volume,s to no avail. Looking for a solution. So searching the web, came across a thread on the M5 owners board where a guy made a lead up and connected into the OEM mic cables near the cd changer cables. (he had the mic in the overhead console, which I also have )He said it worked for him but I cannot get any outgoing sound using his method. My question is has anyone on here got the Grom hooked up to the eom mic and if so does it sound ok? Or anyone know how to increase the mic volume on the Grom or do I just get a better mic for it. (Grom install is very easy by the way, music streaming is great and controls up front and on the steering wheel work fine) Thanks for any info, Regards, Jim

    Grom install using OEM microphone

Finally had some time to spend on the car over the weekend and now have the OEM microphone connected to the Grom unit. I got the up scaled OEM mic off ebay and that plugged straight in to the slot where the original one was in the overhead panel. Tapped into the two wires in the boot that connect to the mic. one brown, one brown/white and bingo. There is a thread in the M5 owners board with a detailed "How To" for this and Ill put the link up if anyone wants it. Cheers,

    Grom install using OEM microphone

Had some instructions from Grom guys to increase the mic gain and all is now working great. Still going to see if I can connect up the oem mic though, just for my own amusement. If i get it working, I will post how.
