    Trump, trump, trumpety trump!

I have dual nationality (British and South African) and I wouldn't want to lose either of them. I'm proud of my dual heritage. It's a win - win situation, unless you want to work at Mi6. No extra paperwork needed when going to South Africa or worrying about Visas if I decide to stay more than 90 days there. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy being British but I'm also happy being South African and I think it's a very close minded thing to say to someone of a dual heritage to just pick one and stick with it. The world isn't as black and white as that. What happens when you meet someone who is a mixed race person? My mom is black and my dad is white, and I always correct people when they call me black. It's not that I feel like I'm more white than black or vice versa, it's just that I am proud of my dual heritage and dual race.

Anyway, back to the Trumpster... How come folk have gotten all upset about a temporary ban on folk from certain countries entering the US, yet were tickety boo about Bush and then Obama blowing folk to bits? Seems to me that if he can wrap his head round how to stop this mindless slaughter at the risk of upsetting a few celebrities and the media, then his brash yobishness can be forgiven....Obviously time will tell. It would be good also for him to sit down with Mad Vlad Putin and discuss the issue caused by the US and EU over in Ukraine.... The US/NATO Tanks placed on the Russian border in Poland by that great liberal icon Obama really cant be a help.... Let's face it, if Hillary had won, HotBox learning to speak Russian would have been a second priority to finding lead lined boxer shorts...

    BMW 5 series videos

BMW's YouTube channel have released a few videos on the history of the 5 series. They've done up to the E39 so far. I presume the E60 will be next. An interesting watch if you're into your 5 series. BMW E12 BMW E28 BMW E34 BMW E39 BMW E60 BMW F10

    Trump, trump, trumpety trump!

Problem with that is, all the "islamic" terrorist attacks in the USA since 9/11 were perpetrated by US nationals, or folks from countries not on the list. The gay bar disco shootings? Shooter was born in New York, parents from Afghanistan - Afghanistan is not on the list. The Boston Marathon bombings? Chechens. Chechnya is not on the list. 9/11 itself? Saudi, UAE, Egyptian. All conspicuously absent from this list of 'countries which apparently smuggle terrorists into the USA'. The only thing this is going to achieve is to deepen the divide. Completely counterproductive. Oil offers at Costco are usually around April & November. Also, don't forget Asda, £30 couple a months ago. The prestone coolant from Costco £9.99 +vat (4L) is what I used, no issues (coming up to 4 yrs). They got a sign on the shelf that it's compatible with beemers. https://groceries.asda.com/product/screenwash/prestone-screenwash/910002053046

Probably the most sensible statement I have read for a very long time. You should have ©HotboxDeluxe behind it.

    Remapping and insurance

I wouldn't consider a remap without notifying insurance, it's just not worth the risk imo. I will have to move to a different insurer but no major problem

    8 speed gearbox retrofit?

    Easier to buy a F11 535d - just sayin...

I,ve plumped for staying with what i know i like Derek, looked at plenty of other stuff and although nice each had their own specific problems, At least with the 530i i have coming any up coming jobs can be rectified having already cured them on our 530i Touring or i can reach out on this great forum and ask advice, I don,t think the e39 is the worst addiction anyone can have

What's the mileage? Try unplugging the MAF, the car will run on a default map. Also check for any breaks in the rubber boot between the MAF and throttle, also for any broken hoses elsewhere. The hose to the idle control valve often splits at the point it does down from the joiner to the rubber boot.

    8 speed gearbox retrofit?

Space wise yes probably. Gearbox mounts will be different but your biggest headache will be getting the thing to talk properly with the existing ECU. The 8 speed box has the driving mode switch attached to it and is designed for stop start technology. And you want an 8 speed box why? Yes it helps with the economy but it's not as much fun as the 6 speed as you've got far too many gears to flip the paddles thru to get any form of engine braking. You have to then put the 8 speed car into sport or sport + to limit the up shifts, to prevent hard work on the downshifts.

    LCi Climate Controls

Yup, I avoid it cos it blast air when and where I don't want it. At least you know your systems work, that's the main thing.

What did you do to your E60/61 today?

Grizzle_E60 let us know how remap goes! Two weeks ago I remapped my wife's Passat and it went from 139bhp to 173bhp and I can feel a good difference in acceleration but my wife have not noticed a single bit! Women, huh!

The other dials you refer too are the upgraded H&V dials as part of the dual zone. As standard the 520d did not come with dual zone I'm afraid. You might not be able to adjust the picture on the iDrive when it is on auto as the car wants to do it itself. Switch off auto and see if you can adjust it. Does the system blow consistent cold air when ac on, and not on auto? Does the system blow consistent hot air when heater is set mid to high when not on auto? Trying to establish if the basics work. I have never used auto because in my opinion it doesn't do what I want it to do. And does things as you describe blows hot and cold worse than an old boss of mine.

Hi all, As some of you know for the past few months my car has been away having a full on audio system fitted and a full respray done, well it's finally finished and back with me so today I spent the day detailing the car and thought i'd get some photo's to post of it completed. The install... Andrive Head UnitFocal 30th Anniversary edition 6.5" components - front speakersOrion 5.1/2 inch components - rear speakers (from Icemans legendary Van)2 X JL Audio 12W6v2 SubwoofersCustom made 4th order bandpass ported box built by IcemanPhoenix Gold Ti1200.1 Amp for the SubsPhoenix Gold Zx475ti Amp for the speakersThe whole build was done by Iceman, I can't thank him enough for all the work he's put in, a true craftsman. I also had it resprayed, again thanks to Iceman for getting me a great deal with Lenny for the respray, absolutely great job.. Not the best photo's really, will have to get Dennis to take some decent ones at some point.. excuse the smudges on the windows, the detail went on a bit long and I didn't get to do the windows until tomorrow.. I had the outer part lined in grey leather and the center in alcantara.. The projectors where something I've never seen before, but the photo's don't really do it justice.. This is the view through the ski hatch These are my controls for the lights and the amps Andrive I also though't I'd give the engine a jet wash because it was pretty oily and dusty after the respray. It sounds absolutely phenomenal, really chuffed with the outcome, maybe a bit ott for some but it's exactly what I wanted :0)

In previous satnavs that were DVD based, buying from someone online meant lower standard DVDs which could break your DVD drive over time. However with the F10, the satnav is hard drive based so you are getting a file instead. Less risky and its what I did. Not sure if I can recommend an external website or not on here, but let me know if you are interested. Think it was £70 all in for the info on 3 USB sticks. Took about 40 mins to update from my old 2010 maps.
