2. You can't have read many posts in the E60 section Joking aside, I do believe that this is the first issue reported on here regarding the newer much better 8HP transmission. We will never know if there was damage caused by the box being removed to do the chains as a possible cause suggested by the OP. BMW would say that with 146k on the clock the box has probably lived beyond its life span. Previous info suggest that BMW regard 120k miles as the life of an autobox thankfully with many going beyond that figure and sadly a few not even making 100,000 miles. It can be down to luck at the end of the day as with all things mechanical there will be the odd failure. It's just when they do fail, it's wallet busting.

SOS call system failure.

And you reboot everything at the same time... hopefully.

F11 Air suspension intermittent fault

I just replaced both of mine due to a single side intermittent pressure loss. Direct from Aerosus/Arnott was better than even the discount sellers and it's an easy job (which took me two attempts to get right)

Tyre Load Rating

A lot of folk remove them as they sort a space saver or run with a tyre inflator/puncture repair kit and also it can save a lot of £££ - To some folk, that's more important. Still being able to use decent tyres, but without the RFT premium etc
6. Hi everyone, new to this forums and i thought i'd contribute by sharing my video on replacing the driver side door on my BMW 535d Msport 2014. Hope this helps as i was unable to find any specific videos on how to do this at the time. Check it out below, enjoy! Let me know what you think

Looking for a friend......

Now I'm no engineer and this'll probably be a waste of time but have you tried unplugging the MAF sensor? My (crap) logic being that if it's fubarred then it'll be reading wrong. The easy start's giving it a glimmer of hope and it's trying but when revving, it can't see actual air volumes so if throwing codes and turning off. Crank/cam have already been mentioned If it was fuel pump related then it wouldn't want to start at all as fuel wouldn't be getting to the injectors? (The above is 99% rubbish as I'm not a mechanic but just throwing some thoughts out there)

Black smoke after remap

It's the map for sure. Who ever did it has been lazy. Plenty of people have high power and torque with no smoke. I have a 30d with 295hp and 520lb with no smoke what so ever. And my mate has a 35d with no smoke but can't remember his figures.

Winter wheels/tyres

18 inch wheels (non staggered) are the official BMW recommendation for the 5 with m sport brakes (the blue ones) I have a set of 619 style wheels for winter. Try the bay of E - search for 18" g30 winter wheels. I paid around £1450 for a brand new set with new tyres from Germany which were £2300 from BMW in the UK

535d power loss after 3rpm

So having the code there ain’t really hurting if the car is running and driving fine?

Relays missing car not starting

Going back to your question about relays, have you checked that the DME and fuel pump relays are present in the e-box and that they are working?
13. I would say that it is a 95% chance that the airbags are at fault as they have reached the age when they do start to leak. If they went down any other way it would happen soon after you parked the car as the valves would be deactivated after about 15 minutes the airbags are totally independent of each other

F11 Air suspension intermittent fault

Hello, I had similar issues with a 2011 F11 I've just sold. From experience with mine it is actually the airbags that need replaced. I had a similar problem.. mechanics couldnt find any obvious leaks on the airbags, so only option was to change them an it did cure problem. The way the bags wear out means that they may leak intermittently or very slightly and can be difficult to diagnose. I'd suggest replacing both airbags at the same time. I used a BMW approved garage for the first one (~£450 inc fitting!!) and then a local mechanic for the second one which ended up going a few months later (~£200 inc fitting). I used BMW specialist for first once as I though it would be a difficult job, however local mechanic showed me how easy it is to fit (about an hour). To be honest you can buy the airbags on ebay for way way less than the £400 BMW ones, which must be lined with gold and fairy dust. I'd suggest getting fixed asap as the compressor on mine eventually started to fail, which meant that the car wouldnt get to proper height and then display intermittent errors. A BMW gold plated compressor is £900 plus fitting!!!! I got a cheap one of ebay for £160 and it solved the problem, but who knows how long it would last. Hope that helps. Cheers Martin

F11530d running hot?

My question is should a 530d oil temp ever go over 100oC? Mine seems to be creeping above on the motorway. Is this normal? So i've just bought a 2016 F11 530d with 100K miles on the clock. On test drive when i purchased it, all seemed good, and drove it home 400 miles no worries. I've just sold a 2011 F11 520d (with 160k on clock) which it has replaced, however both cars seem to share a common problem i think. For majority of its life the 520d would get up to temperature and the oil temp gauge would sit resolutely at 100oC and once there would never shift. However in the past 6 months or so it would start to creep just over midway once on motorway. With couple of bikes on roof it would creep well out of midway. It would come back down to about 100oC ish on downhills, when idling etc. I mentioned this to a mechanic before I sold it and he gave me the stock 'they all do that mate' answer, and as I was selling I didn't take it any further. Car didn't use any water and the resevoir was always full. The 530d I've bough started to do the same on commute home tonight.... temp crept just above centre... this is gentle cruising on m'way (up a gentle hill). I know that when DPF goes into regen mode the temp can creep up, so what is it that could be causing this, and is it 'expected' behaviour??! Any answers greatly appreciated before I have to start getting garages involved. The car has got a 3 month AA warranty through the dealer I bought car, so if it is a problem i'd like to get it fixed on warranty if possible. Thanks in advance. Martin

Tyre Load Rating

Thanks for all the help guys, appreciated. I want to stick to run flat tyres. They are developed for a safety reason, why would I want to remove that safety benefit for a small uplift on comfort (which I have no issues with in the first place) OK< so, the 100 instead of 96 will not be an issue. Thanks for the feedback guys.
17. Hi everybody, I'm currently having an issue with my F11 (2014) Approximately 1 in 3 times I will go to the car and it's sat on its back end (no gap in the arches) I start the car up, I hear the air compressor running, the car levels out and all is good. - Have checked all air bags for cracks/damage and everything is fine - Soapy water applied to air bags to check for leaks (none present) - Occurrence is completely random - Fault is not caused by parking in certain positions - No air/hissing sounds once the car has levelled out What else could it be? Has anybody else had this fault before? I'm thinking maybe sensors or compressor fault? Thanks in advance for any help, much appreciated

Black smoke after remap

Yes I have he said to check for boost leaks and check swirl flaps ain’t leaking which I have done and replace the 4 boost seals from bmw that cost me £38. I’m pretty sure tho it only happens when I use kick down
19. Crikey !! I had always read how reliable the auto boxes were, sorry to hear about the enormous cost to you. I did like your reference to a "dump in the middle of the showroom" -- I can imagine that keeping a sense of humour in recent days wasn't at all easy

Wiper Blades for 2013 F10

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bosch-Aerotwin-Flat-Blade-650-450-A524S-Front-Windscreen-Wiper-Blades-Pair-Set/273962814923?epid=248911236&hash=item3fc974cdcb:g:BhcAAOSw6TtdT2ID Yeh I ordered a pair from this seller and they should have arrived last week. No response to questions from the seller so not best pleased. Now I have to wait until the 25th to start a dispute via ebay as PayPal won't get involved. It's noyt a lot of money but its the principle of honest trading and being ripped off! I'm sure I've bought from this seller in the past, but I'd advise to stay clear for now just in case......

Black smoke after remap

Depends on the map itself and how it's been setup. Typically going by what I've read on here that the more the map pushes for hp the more rich the fueling is going to be which contributes to the black smoke on boost. Have you spoke to the guy who mapped the car for ya about it? What does he say?

Issues connecting the car to the computer via cable

Have you checked EDIABAS.ini should have line - Interface = STD:OBD I find the EasyConnect Utility quite handy for changing these files.
26. Afternoon all, well about 3 weeks ago I got my 535d remapped with dpf and egr delete. I have noticed that if I floor it I get big thick black smoke coming out of the exhaust between 2k and 2.5k. I’m guessing it shouldn’t smoke big black smoke

Bricking It !

I agree with Duncan. Why get rid of it? It will be the same car as before but with a repaired bumper. Just keep good photographic evidence of the damage for when you eventually come to sell it on to show that it was nothing serious.
