Hi

Just passing on my recommendation of HBH Motors who are based in Handsworth, Birmingham.

The main man (Ken) was previously a chief mechanic for RSJ Motors (also highly recommended and based in Birmingham). He now works from his own extensive back yard and hence, has great prices to match.

Most work undertaken from simple services to complete engine changes and you can supply your own oil/parts and just get him to do the work you ask. He specialises in pre-2005 models and has a 380,000 mile E34 540i himself!

Please call him on 07931 604354 and if you say that mak sent you, he will look after you very much!

The latch mechanism on the passenger side door of my 1998 523i was acting up this morning, and the door wouldn't stay closed. Paul at Barry Jones said they were pretty busy, but just to pop by whenever and he'd take a look at it. When I got there, he was able to get the latch working again in about 10 seconds (it may have been frozen this morning). He then lubed up the mechanisms of the passenger side and driver side door. When I asked him how much it'd cost, he thought for a moment before replying, "Oh, just a couple quid."

So in short, friendly on the phone, quickly solved the problem, helped prevent the problem recurring, and didn't gouge me on the price.

BJA seconded - used him twice now and will again
And thirded . I used them for my E34 and now for my E39. Genuine nice honest guys who will always try and aqueeze you in or have a look even when extremley busy

I have to recommend these guys. They recently sorted some issues with my BMW for a 1/3 of the price the main dealer wanted.
They did some welding on my TVR's exhaust manifold..and didn't charge me!
They spent a few hours with my BMW last week checking for a water leak (which i thought i had), they pressure tested the car hot & cold etc...no charge again!

Tope fellas too.

BMW Specialist / Breaker in High Wycombe

I use these guys and have done for as long as I can remember. The owners name is TIM and he's a top bloke.
He can 99% of the time tell you whats wrong with your 5 (in fact most beemers) just by listening to it. The rest of the guys their are 1st class too, best not forget to mention Tim's wife who also works there.

Any way their prices are good, knoledge is top draw, courtasy cars if needed & so on. Also does insurance work.

He's always breaking E34's 39's 32's 30's and newer stuff and will ship.

I used Deutchmarque in Edinburgh who charged me £340 for an insp2, bit steep when some BMW dealers charge less for older cars. Shame I dont have any such BMW dealers that are implementing the four plus scheme in Edinburgh, they wanted £550 for insp2.
Deutch marque do have good reputation though and are the largest independent BMW dealers in Scotland

Stu at M3 Motor Co near Bathgate 01506 811999. If you could mention Toby recommended you.

Not according to this web-site! http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/garages_scot.html To be fair, the last review was October 2008, things might have changed. Personally if you're local I'd go with Toby's recommendation, Stuart and Annie are friendly and helpful and always deliver on time.

If anybody needs a good indy BMW specialist based in essex/london then give MStyle a shout on 0208 598 9115. They breathe BMW's all models and are always in top BMW magazines and there prices is reasonable. They can do everything from styling, bodywork, servicing, repairs, alloy wheels to unique custom stuff. I have had lots of work done there and have no problems recommending them. If anyone else needs more inforamtion then please feel free to PM me. They do have a website but not sure if I can post it here and if you do go through to Mstyle then please say that Mukul recommended you from BMW 5 series board.

website is http://www.mstyle.co.uk/

Has anyone used Beemer Redeemer in Kenysham Nr. Bristol? Wondering if they are worth a visit or a bunch of robbing pikey's like so many "specialist" breakers I have had the misfortune of dealing with locally.

Folks, having just moved from Glasgow to Stockport, looking for an indy to avoid a $tealer at all costs. Can anyone confim if BMTec Manchester, recommended earlier on, is the same one that is 87-88 Cross Street, just outside the city centre?

Cheers

Can't recommend Darjac Racing enough, and I even complete a 460 mile round trip from Liverpool each time I need something doing on my Z4MC (and formerly my e34 M5).

Methodological approach to fault finding, constant status updates, always available to answer questions and a genuinely nice guy running it.

Also gets great reviews on M5Board.com

Used these guys today and certainly recommend them and will definitely be using them again. I dealt with Gary – top bloke who knows his stuff.

Friendly, sensible pricing, knowledgeable and a real enthusiasm / passion for all things BMW - what more could you want from a specialist?

Based in Kent.

Has anyone had any experience of Custom Werks for servicing in Hayes? I am looking at getting an Inspection 2 done shortly.

Your views/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Eh, No. Are you? Just because you didn't receive good service doesn't meant I didn't.

Mixed opinions. Some people say amazing and great service, some say the opposite.

I highly recommend:

DARREN WOOD BMW SPECIALISTS,
Bredbury, Stockport
0161 425 7403

These guys (Darren and Mike) are feckin awesome! They're both skilled ex-BMW mechanics with what I can only describe as a genuine love of BMWs (and knowledge too).
They've always gone the extra mile for me and really know their stuff.

Can't speak highly enough of these guys..... they recently travelled about 20 miles to my house to fix my motor rather than me spending on recovery.
