Decided my question should go in a different thread rather than cluttering up this one

Well had a spare day so got round to fitting the double switch panel. Wired up the lighting for now and will start on the new functions shortly

Also after installing the air ride System I lost the spare wheel well to it components which meant the spare had to go up top which bugged me as I like a tidy clean boot. So looked for solutions to this. And here are the results. Space saver wheel and option extendable boot floor. All works and another option ticked off the list

Decided I fancied a change so sold the acs and took a set of square 65’s in part ex.

Pretty sure they weren’t staying but were a good price so thought I’d at least try them. They stayed 3 days before I managed to convince the owner of my new rims to part with them. He wanted the 65’s. So a deal was done. So here they are. 3 piece 19” rotiform LHR’s

I was watching that on eBay, it was in a right state. Looking forward to a new project thread.

Good luck with it

Hi 3Dr,

Fantastic stuff here! It'll be great for another UK based E39 M5 Touring to be built! so far, the only one myself and most of the enthusiasts know of is Steve's one from around 2009/10'ish that he build in his driveway a few miles up the road from me. I'm sure you've seen his thread over on M5board ? He did a lot of the figuring out of things to have the M5 elements work in his 540i touring he also had. Since then, over the last few years, there's been a good few USA Touring's built with the S62 conversion but your's will be perhaps the 2nd one for the UK. It's been on my mind to do as well ..   I might still do a conversion too ;)

Quite a bit more to do if the recipient car is a diesel, I'm sure you already know about the fuel tank and lines needing to be changed etc. Please do keep this thread updated with the important aspects of the swap please !

The M5 shell you'll be left with might be worth something to someone, perhaps an M5 owner who's had a mishap and wants to swap things into a straight shell?..

Is it a swap you are going for now and perhaps adding to the S62 drivetrain later? or perhaps keeping it as an OEM S62 only ? You'll need to do some work to get the quad exhausts on, again which I'm sure you know of. A similar S62 Touring in Germany came up really cheap perhaps 18 months ago and I thought of picking it up. Interestingly, it had just the left side of the exhausts done for more of a sleeper look. Any other plans for it once the drivetrain swap is done ?

Cheers, Dennis!

So today was a big day for the conversion as the touring made its way to the unit. Moved the m5 shell towards back of unit and positioned the touring so it can be worked on. Need to clear some space tomorrow and Mrs garage will be having a few parts lol. We got a bit carried away as we were just gonna get it in the air and take a few bits off. Next thing we knew it was nearly midnight and the engine and gearbox are out lol
