Stretch's 530d Sport Touring. Updated 19/7/17

Thought I would start a thread about how my touring is progressing as I have done a few things already and loads of plans for more  Getting the Mod bug back after having a few years off. Some may recognise my name so you may know my old cars lol. Don't think this will get to mag feature status like my old ones but just enjoyable for me ;)

So this is how I bought her

Added White 10w angel eyes

And matching White HID kit (Dunno about getting matching fog lights at mo as i'm not one for driving round with them on anyway and white doesn't cut through fog like halogens IF I used them as intended )

Cheers mate it was the only colour I wanted and even gave up the manual box I wanted for the auto as the price was right ;)

Also jobs done so far that I knocked seller down on are

Auto power tailgate not working (no fluid)

Tailgate glass opening not working, heated rear screen not working (Broken wiring at hinge area)

Replaced LED high level brake light due to above problem as previous owner just binned it instead of tracing problem because every time he hit brakes it popped the tailgate window. (Sourced from Raymond on here ;)

Renewed rear brake sensor As had warning bong on dash (old one broken and not clipped in)

Repaired washer jets as rear and fronts had been bodged :x

Treated all leather to a good wash and conditioning

Deflapped it for peace of mind

New wheels should be here at end of week as well after there refurb

Cleaned MAF sensor

I highly recommend an EGR bypass kit and decat pipe, makes such a difference to the 530d.

Lovely car - hope you changed the crankcase breather for the vortex type when you did the flaps.

Looking nice stretch!

The benefits are massive.  The "loo roll" style one you have now is poor and can clogg up easily etc.  Best to get the Vortex one.

Nice one Stretch. I don't think the E38 rear arm rest fits. If you look for RichardP's thread in here it is something he looked at

Just a little update as i've been busy getting the e38 parts off i wanted and getting that back on the road but so far i have

Installed e38 exterior illuminated handle lighting

Installed new external temp sensor and wiring as old one had been ripped off with usual corner thingies lol

Have done half of the e38 centre arm rest install. Mounted the e38 arm rest to the e39 slide and tilt base (waiting on the iphone parts for the cradle)

Have purchased a electric steering column for when i retrofit the seats plus memory and mirrors when i get them

Are you dyeing the seats? They look green?

Yes mate i am copying Liam prob and going for caramel as i have green contours,e38 arm rest and  rear head rests and black rear seats centre console and door cards.

Got to retrofit the heating into the contours first though with the pads on there way from germany now ;)

Ah hadn't seen you have your own thread. Those wheels are nice, but OH MY GOD E38 ILLUMINATED INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES!! Now that's my kind of mod! Should really have sorted the parts for that while I had my door cards off.

How did you get them to fit?

Well i didnt actually fit the handles i just fitted the light holders and fibroptic cable etc and modded my handles to accept it.But after seeing both handles side by side i would say they would fit with a little modding and the only reason i didnt was i would of had to spray both sets of handles to the opposite colour as the e38 i pinched them off i sold on ;)

I have the full interior here as i managed to get a set of cheap seats to put in the e38 before selling so if i cant use the leather off them ro recover my touring seats mate i'll give ya first dibs on it ;)

Might be interested in the arm rest, but for my rear seat upgrade plans I'll be looking ideally for an E38 bench with switches and wiring to make my life easier. But out of interest does your E38 bench frame have the mountings for the switches, so would be just a case of removing some foam, cutting the leather then the switches would clip in?
