My box has given up the ghost. I believe from a earlier thread that the early 6 series had a close ratio H pattern box, Does anybody have the part numbers for this, and is it a direct replacement for mine.

My car is a 03/1987 E28 528ise manual. The box I have just removed is a GETRAG and part number 2600105091 (The bellhousing and box are one complete unit.)

Wow, the gearbox has broken! I would've put money on it being the linkages...

Good luck with the gearbox search, AIUI the 'H' pattern close ratio box was a very rare fitting even on the 6 series.

I know, I really thought it would be the linkage, but no such luck. going to get a linkage anyway whilst its all out. The breakers have a selection of boxes including one from a 635 csi, I might drop lucky on this one....

Now I'm confused. Checked on realOEM.com for box part numbers and none of them match the box I've just removed, unless I'm missing something?
