Window tinting of my 530 GT

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Has anyone used after market window tinting companies? I've bought a second hand 530d GT and it isn't tinted, I've been quoted £138 for B pillar back. Is that good? or bad?

Should I bother?

As long as it's a good, reputable, established company then I see no issue.

I had my Mk5 golf tinted and the same guy did my F10 from b pillar back - I paid £150 for the F10

Check their Facebook/social media pages or go by personal recommendation.

Maybe try a heavily tinted car first to see? Rear vision with dark tints is a bit of a challenge sometimes, and coupled with side mirror distortion can take a bit of getting used to.

Your profile says you're in Fareham... so give South Coast Tints in Southampton a call. They are very high quality and reasonably priced, and they'll gladly talk through options and combinations of tinting with you (e.g. very dark on rear, lighter on sides).

I think that's a good price, and it's a must. My Touring Estate came with factory tints, and I've had a LIMO TINT applied too. The big difference is I have the Oyster (beige) Leather which seriously affects your tints as the light bounces right through, I also carry working dogs as far a field as Germany so I need the protection.

I bought mine with a limo tint already on it. The glass is blacker than the paint. Totally awful visibility, night time is diabolical. And unfortunately some scratches on the left side of the car are testament to the zero visibility at night. :(
