Swap out the F10....?

Recommended Posts

Love the 535 colour. Worth checking them out and see what they will realistically accept price wise. Can't be swamped with buyers on a cold, February weekend?

The interior may/will disappoint you since you own a F10.

Yeah I know what you mean. Love the f10 interior but I like the e60 lci in some combinations. But i guess what you're really saying is if we cant take the DCT to the E60 m5 take the v10 to the f10... Haha now that would be something

I can't really have a look at the 535, as it's way too far away!

I'm going to look at the 530i tomorrow....

These petrol engines are hard to find from the dealers! Must have been the reason why i opted for the Diesel!! :(

There seem to be alot of 528's flying around.....

That 535 is near me. If I get time tomorrow I'll take a nosey. Curious to drive a 535I and see if there is much between it and mine.

That would be good mike....

How do you find the 530i?

I'm intrigued to figure how it'll compare to my 'D', and also to my old E46 330i..... :)

I find it good tbh. Plenty quick enough for me, never found it lacking.

You get the best out of the engine by driving the 'box though. Use DS and manual when you need to make the most of the throttle response. D is too lazy I find for anything other than moderate plodding.  Don't drive it like your 330d or you'll be disappointed.

Be interested to hear what you think.

So I drove the 535i.

Condition wise the front tyres looked odd to me, sort of strenched look. Tiny dent and chip on rear passenger door. Corrosion on door edges of driver and rear driver side doors. Otherwise very good condition in and out but clearly been sat a while as the brakes were very rusty.

Interior I'm not taken on, not keen on beige against silver alu trim but each to their own, was light and airy. Sunroof was nice, would love one. No HUD but does have HK.

N55 is a nice engine for sure is quicker than the n53 but there wasn't as much in it as I was expecting, not all that much at all really just lazier and less revs. Sport Gearbox was nice and seemed more responsive.  I think the lci car and especially box drive much better overall than my pre lci (my rear tyres are past their best, in fairness). Steering seemed heavier and the suspension more planted somehow, tighter perhaps as lower miles.

So not enough in it for me to change (m5 is better value at 5-6k more) but the LCI is much nicer than pre LCI.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for doing that!! :)

Just spoke to someone at the dealership, and they’re only willing to knock off £250!! Making the car £21,750 :|

the dealer with the 530 not willing to knock anything off at all on £17.5k!!!

No problem. Happy to help out a forum buddy but also if it had really spun my gears id have come away with it :P

Did you drive the 530i?

I asked the 535i dealer about two year warranty but apparently there is no margin in the cars at all. Pile em high sell em low... (lol)

Btw that 535i I checked the footwells and they seemed dry, AC seemed to work. Wasn't sure if I detected slight smoker smell tho.

Yes, drove the 530i, and after being used to the diesel engine/power delivery - couldnt believe how different it felt......!!

Wasn't as torquey, and the power delivery was very smooth.......

You're right though.....not too keen on the beige interior.....think i prefer the black......

Which doesn't leave me with many options..... :(

The 530i has some faint scratches to both of the rear quarters, which he said will polish out, if i'm interested in the car.......But at 17.5 think is a little on the steep side :(

I could go private, but thats a risk!

OR........stick to the newer (>2014) diesels

Yeah told you! Got to work the nasp six pot. That's part of the attraction for me but appreciate it's not for everyone. I can't stomach diesel personally not the smell, vibration, or the way they give a shove but don't keep feeding in power. Like a tease.

Interior is tricky on f10s. Mine is alu with black and its what I want on next car too. Clean and modern. Surprising how many m5s you see with the fake wood.

17k is way too much. WBAC will be 10.6k tops. 13k more like it from a dealer.

Yup mine is exempt from the ULEZ and whatever similar nonsense that Glasgow City council are proposing near me.

Its only nonsense in Glasgow as there is little in the way of alternative transport being offered.

I'm yet to find a current family car that is not compliant..... Even the old man's 600bhp craziness is compliant??

As long as you meet the following all good!

The ULEZ standards are:

Euro 3 for motorcycles, mopeds, motorised tricycles and quadricycles (L category)

Euro 4 for petrol cars, vans, minibuses and other specialist vehicles

Euro 6 for diesel cars, vans and minibuses and other specialist vehicles

Euro VI for lorries, buses and coaches and other specialist heavy vehicles

Yup, because like sheep, most owners chose to believe what the government told them about Diesels.

There are a load more petrol G30s out there by comparison.

Again, more than likely because of the mixed messages and often inaccurate information about either fuel being doled out by government and media.

Consequently, there has been a sharp rise in CO2 levels during this time.

Swings and roundabouts.

Lol I doubt a few extra petrol engines are making a difference to global co2 levels, interesting and shocking that they've risen though.

Diesel pollutants are harmful at the micro / local level. I.e. the immediate environment. Petrol is mostly co2 which is global impact but vehicles as I understand it are a tiny tiny part of the overall co2 source.

Happy to be corrected on the above two points is just my understanding.

Love my petrol f10.  Just can't decide what to replace with if anything.

You may have a deal if there is a little room for manoeuvre on the price! :D

One thing i did notice on the 530i - it had hardly any room for navigation to gain access to the yellow grommit! :|

Looked like you'd need to get a small child to do the work for you! :(

^Its quite easily accessible on mine. I had a check under the bonnet yesterday. Can't think the n/a version of mine would be that much different?

The engine accostic cover should be easy to take off and give better access, don't let that put you off it though.

The 520d looked tight to me but loads have managed that one.
