225/45/17 instead of 225/50/17?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I'm about to purchase a 2006 530i Sport Touring and want to sort out a winter set for it.

I've got a perfectly good set of 225/45/17 Goodyear winter tyres that I've only ran for 2 winters on my Skoda, the question is will I be OK to fit these to a standard set of BMW rims? The standard tyre size seems to be 225/50/17 so only slightly different...

Your help/guidance would be very much appreciated.

Use a tyre calculator; if more than 2.5% out, they're really a no-go as speedo will be out

Looks like they will be with the above chart
