Is it ok to start the engine without intake manifold?

Recommended Posts

I want to warm up injectors and glow plugs and add some acetone with dexron to loosen them up

So can I run the engine without intake manifold?

Why what? You can inhale the exhaust fumes all you like.

Ha exhaust fumes... piece of cake

I thought something more serious

Also I removed catalytic converter

And deleted egr and swirls

A bit stinky indeed

I ll just stick bimmers ass out of the garage

No worries mate

What I am really worried about is noise

Will it be like gun shots?

I shot a Glock in confined space once without ear plugs...somebody got hurt his ears real bad

Did this during the summer.

Had an awful time removing the last injector nearest the firewall. DO NOT attempt it cold.  I eventually got it out. After driving back the road with no bonnet or manifold on. Full chat.

It came out relatively easy after that. Slide hammer definitely a must. The body of it was like coal. Let us know how you get on.

Not yet. At the start I get high rev 1000 then drops to normal 700

So the injectors are going their job then!

When I had an injector fail on idol the car shook like a badly balanced vibrator

I think you’re looking for issues that just aren’t there!

What makes this noise anyway?

Mainly down to age/mileage, our E91 has just ticked over 210k and it sounds like yours when you took the oil filler cap off! It’s only 10 years old and when we got it (@150k and 3 years ago) it was noticeably quieter!

Also fluids and external temperature can have a bearing on the level of noise that the arguer makes....
