How to check if turbo still working?

Recommended Posts

Not happy with me turbo lately

Floor it and only high speeds turbo kicks in

How to check if vacuum tubes are ok?

How to check for leaks ?

Or maybe turbo is dying itself?

Vac pipes are pretty easy, buy a roll of pipe, remove one, cut a replacement off the roll, refit and repeat.

Bit of dismantling to get access but simple enough.

One think to check is the pressure convertors valves as if one fails it can lead to lack of low or high boost depending which.

Don't forget to change the engine mount vac lines.

A simple check for vac line leaks is start the car. Press the brake peddle and keep constant pressure on the peddle. If it slowly sinks then your are losing vac pressure. As the brake booster is fed from the same vac lines as the turbo system.

This isn't right

If the brake pedal (not peddle btw) sinks that means a hydraulic problem. If anything, if vacuum is leaking away, there will be less servo assistance so the pedal would become harder.
