Bmw 2001 e39 525i topaz blue sport £400

Recommended Posts

This was my wife’s car but due to needing extra space we’ve now replaced this with a ford smax, I’ve two other e39s and have taken some parts of this to convert my 540i to sport spec (hence the price!)

So the despite the car being a genuine sport this is its current spec

145k miles, mot till 05/03/19

Se rear bumper

Se pre facelift front bumper (orient blue as it’s all I had to replace the sport one with!)

Se steering wheel

16” turbine wheels

It drives well, it’s been a good car but does have some issues that’ll need attention

Body work is scruffy, back wheel arch had a light scrape in car park resulting in a blister of rust, clear coat is lifting on edge of bonnet and wing, jacking points will need attention, has the usual oil leaks from rocker cover and possibly filter housing.

a wheel bearing is also very noisy, not sure wich one is the culprit

On a plus point it’s had some money spent on it the last few years

It’s had a a couple of shocks and springs and the usual bushings, exhaust joint had split where it joins the cat so they were drilled out and re bolted, new rear discs pads and shoes for last mot too. I’ve also done the ccv delete mod and added pcv so there’s no need to worry about that falling to bits! Engine management light is on either due to o2 or maf sensor, but still drives well and passed emissions on mot earlier this year.

Interior is a nice place to be it has grey heated sports leather.

It could be brought back to sport spec and it’s former glory etc, it’s priced to sell at £500 and I won’t be looking to take any offers as it’s priced to sell.

Honestly it drives much better than I’m making it out, if oil leaks fixed, wheel bearing sorted it’ll drive better than most! Hard to explain but despite its faults it still has a very tight feel to it!
