Should it be more viscose?

10w or 5w?

40 or 60?

5w

40

Unless you have excessive oil consumption.

Any reputable brand LL01 should do. I have been using Total  Quartz 9000 for the past 12 years - combined mileage on my two cars is now 0.5M+ miles and counting (both petrol/lpg). Also since the last 60k or so happily using Liqui Moly Ceratec - especially beneficial for cold winter starts at -15 degrees in the Alps. Amazing stuff, can't praise enough.

That is a lie

Almost 9 litres came out

That’s way too much, as above either over fill or you have a problem.

Has the thought ever crossed your mind that the previous owner of your car has caused the majority of the issues with it?

Good I bought 2 5L 5w30

Same as with dexron auto box more than you told me

Think you need to find another forum to frequent... Try bimmerforums.com pal

People give you the correct answers, the answers you need to questions you ask, but then you challenge them, every time?

So if you already know everything; then why ask the friggin question?!

Youre wasting bandwidth... Maybe you need to go & buy a Yugo instead...

You’re not though; you challenge every answer provided

If very experienced owners of these cars have already told you that you’re wrong, then accept it, not question it, repeatedly

Like I said, get a Yugo or a Lada, be much easier to run...

Some say that I got plus oil problems and vacuum is not sucking good enough

All I know fuel injectors are the pressing issue right now

Problems are adding up... 306k km now

I ll pay for fixing 6th injector in Minsk

Got no time to mess with injectors right now

Winter is coming and I ve got no bullerjan yet in my garage

Belarus turns out is much cheaper than Lithuania

Is it really a problem to challenge common knowledge?

Well respected forumer told me to replace autotrans box oil about 5 litres

I ran out of dexron ...had to buy more. And wait for 5 days.

Auto box has 7 litres

Now here 6.5l for oil...not true...lucky and from previous experience I bought 10 litres

Barely made it

Reality is quite different from BMW manual text books

Don't worry be happy

Maybe your one BMW is the odd one out then? The only one not to take what the manufacture recommends?

Maybe everyone on here should listen to you as they are obviously following guidelines that are incorrect....

the funny thing is, all the people that are doing things wrong (in your eyes), their cars haven’t got a million issues.....

I literally just changed the oil on my 530d last week and yep... around 6.5 litres was correct. I bought 2x 4 litre bottles and had about 1.5 litres left over.

‘You absolutely, positively, reassuringly right that 9l didn’t come out?!

Maybe he read the 9 as a 6?

Ooooorrrr hold on, maybe our friend the OP read a 6 as a 9? Hmmmm the plot thickens, there’s more questions than answers here!

I cant cope, I’m going for a lie down....

I suspect what he bought were two 4 litre cans of oil which is the common measure outside of the UK. This is certainly the case with Castrol Edge which he was referring to some while back. However if the 530d was made with a 9 litre sump for the Russian market  we can only apologise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
