E28 Alpina B10 OBC limit button light

Recommended Posts

Firstly hello everyone I’m new to this forum and this is my fist post.

So about 8 months ago I purchased a Sytner B10 3.5 and for the last 8 months it’s been in storage. The car needs some work and I plan to restore it to it’s former glory over the next 5 years or so.

Anyway it has an MOT so I decided to tax her beginning of the month and just enjoy driving it for the summer, since charging the battery I have noticed that the limit button on the OBC has a red light that is continuously lit even with the car off and key out of the ignition. Done  some google searching but having found anything on this particular buttons function or as to why is always lit up?

Any help would be grealty appreciated and thanks in advance

It's function is to give a warning when a pre-set speed is reached but it shouldn't stay on.

The obc will be  permanently live to keep the time etc so that is why key makes no difference.

Sounds perhaps the button is stuck or done interval short/ corrosion?

welcome by the way. Any pics?

Thanks for the reply.

The button seems to operate fine, corrosion could well be the culprit I will have to investigate further.

Forgive the pic quality. iPhones are no the best!

Nice, interesting it has the M535i kit rather than the cow catcher. Also chrome lights and shadow line trim.

Assume it was built from an M535i then?

Yes it was built from an m535i, and from the build sheets it was specced with the shadow line trim option, I can only assume the rear lights have been changed out at some point for the chromies for whatever reason.

I have seen a couple B10’s very specced very similar to this one with the m535i kit as apose to the Alpina one. Have to say I do prefer the Alpina kit and I am leaning towards fitting one along with the decals at some point providing I can find an original kit!
