Chrome Window Exterior Trim Rejuvenation?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have a 2004 e60 530d and was wondering on the best way to bring life back into the chrome window surrounds?  Ideally I would like to make them black, but from what I heard the paint peels off after a time.

Another idea was Plasti Dip, but I am unsure of how good it would be. I've tried sanding, but just one lower trim took about 4 hours with different grades of sanding paper - the result was a lot duller than the originals.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Dom

Polishing them would bring the shine back. Autosol metal polish or something similar should do it.

Autosol polish is what I use and does the job nicely.

If you ever get any water spots/limescale the best thing to use is Poorboys White Diamond Glaze (good on paintwork too for a lighter coloured car).
