First world F10-series problems

Recommended Posts

A thread to collate all those little niggles that don't really matter, but annoy you about your otherwise perfect F10 series car... I'll start

  • When wearing my polarised sunglasses, the Head Up Display is invisible. I need to tilt my head by 90 degrees for it to appear.
  • When closing the automatic tailgate from the keyfob I need to keep the button pressed rather than just press & release.

  • When closing the automatic tailgate from the keyfob I need to keep the button pressed rather than just press & release. - Get yourself a copy of Esys and a cable, and code it for single press close !

Likes far outweigh the dislikes but in the spirit of being grumpy!

Having to open cup holders to store the key.

Hopeless android integration.

No mute button on steering wheel and no one touch off button on the stereo!

Passenger seatbelt buckle clunking against B pillar

Position of boot release button.

Not  a biggie but does anyone notice that the two corner panels that meet the front doors and windscreen create blind spots when turning out of a junction - esp for motorcyclists who I luckily missed once because of this! So first world I know.

The yellow grommet

Door corrosion

F11 rear air springs

2.0d

EGR failures

Air con condensers

B47 poor fuel consumption

3AC towbar not fully wired all 13 pins and can't cope with LEDs as trailer lights.

No V8 engine that isn't a liability.

No 4x4 option

I'm really happy with mine, but of course nothing is perfect.

Interior boot button opening but not closing the boot.

Middle rear seat folding with the left rather than the right side.

As already mentioned, having to hold boot button on remote to close it.

All trivial things.

Used to boil my piss but depending on what you have on the insert adjacent the steering wheel this is an easy mod...

You are not alone!  I find myself always untwisting the passenger seat belt after a passenger has got out, just so the belt lies flat. Also stops it looking horribly twisted against the base of the seat.

No for cars of this value that is a real irritation and is unacceptable. You don't get that happening in a Skoda Superb

Air con condensers.

F11 Rear Air Suspension.

Cruise Control wrong side of steeing wheel or failing that mini must be on the wrong side, I would have thought as mini is owned by BMW they could be on the same side.as we have both marques its frustrating.

F11 heavy on rear tyre wear (Original RunFlats)

Lumber support seat not Standard.

Rear view camera not standard.

The yellow grommet  problem (on the list to be checked)

Not so much of an issue on the F10 but on the F11 someone could walk close to the car while you are closing the boot and it could bump their head - easily coded so the button works both ways - I've done this on mine and a number of other F10/F11s.

Not easy to find many niggles but here goes:

Auto hold handbrake keeps the brake lights on.

Folding mirrors automatically fold open at a certain speed.

Steering wheel texture not very grippy.

Attracts more than a healthy dose of envy.

Agree with all four, the boot release has been in the same awkward position except for the new 5 series where it is now on the door pull.

Oh another one, the rear view mirror with the small circle for the anti dazzle, I find it distracting.  Why do BMW do this when everyone else makes the sensor invisible??
