Newbie questions

Hi. First BMW so be gentle!

Have just collected 10 month old G31 and need advise on the following:

Lug nut torque settings when replacing the wheels?

Which rubber adapter to purchase when using trolley jack so as to not damage the plastic guides?

How common is it to puncture the run flats on 20" wheels?

All help appreciated.

Hit a pothole with my 20’s on G30 and got an egg in the side wall. About £370 for a new tyre. Wouldn’t mind but I didn’t even know I’d done it, it was only seen during a morning walk round prior to a long drive. Guys at dealers said these are prone to issues. Good luck and welcome to the site. Cheers, Andy

No idea about the torque - sorry.

this pad will do:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232365535192

confirmed to work on mine.

pot hole damage can be claimed from local council. Did so on tyres and/or alloys on several occasions for myself and friends/family

I've lost a few wheels and several tyres due to pot holes in the past, never claimed - I think the council are hard-up enough nowadays without that. I just believe that it's my own fault for having skinny tyres and big wheels.

I'm quite impressed with the G31 though, it's taken me 6 months to kerb a wheel, I think that must be a record.

Andy - impressive garage! Surprised there was no warning prompt on pressure loss on the tyre.

Many thanks - had seen this but didn't like the G31 reference when entered. Have now purchased.

JB - intend to get no closer than 6" to any kerb. Halliwell Jones did offer tyre/wheel insurance but £600 for 3 years seemed excessive.

Ref torque settings, things seem to point to 140nm but could be 120nm? Have mailed the dealer ( not as quick to respond now I've purchased).

No loss of pressure just a big egg in the side wall of the tyre. Dont recall hitting a pot hole but that’s what my friendly main stealer told me must have happened.
