Brand new Highland village

Recommended Posts

My youngest and I went out for a drive locally today in the old E34. We called on a place called Tornagrain, where they are constructing a brand new village using traditional designs with modern features and insulation.

The plan lane is for a couple of shops, a post office and a pub once there are enough occupied homes.

I quite like the look if this. Giving it some thought.

Also, a bit of nature nearby. What more would you want?!

Interesting. Is there a mix of houses? To make a community you need all walks of life else it's just a dormitory.

I think prince Charles's pounsbury is a similar idea.

Yep - one bed flats, two bedroom terraced and on to 2 bed semis, and 3/4/5 bedroom semi and detached houses.

Its beautiful, and growing!

Well it's better than Fort William.

Fort William is ok. Plockton is a place I could settle....

My dad lives in Edinburgh but you forget just how much more there is above Glasgow and Edinburgh.

SO true. Get yourself into a nice car Duncan, and get yourself up here. It’s beautiful.

You've been lately?! :o

I thought it was awful, druggies everywhere, boarded up shops and an aura of misery. Not one decent restaurant, but a spectacularly terrible Chinese. Even the Subway closed after a year!

I first went in 1981 and it was okay then.  Kinlochleven and Ballachulish are okay.

Hi FB,

It's a nice idea and the implementation seems to be quite good in your pictures !

What's the current asking price range for each of those property types? Had a quick scan on the property sites but can't see anything (maybe need to search more !)

Some new builds are still what I'd say quite 'small', I've been shocked at what property types will call a 'bedroom' !

Cheers, Dennis!

Since 2017 the are nationally prescribed minimum space standards. 2 beds are actually a decent size under these rules.

Makes my job harder though explaining to people why they can't have 10 flats only 3!
