4f95 ratio monitoring clutch b-e

Recommended Posts

Went to overtake today on the M27 when BONG and transmission warning, and complete loss of drive.  Got across the lanes into safety and stopped.  Into N then back into D and the car accelerated ok.  Turned off the ignition, waited 30 secs, restarted and the error had cleared and drove home normally.  Scanned the EGS for an error which was 4f95 ratio monitoring clutch b-e, which I'm guessing is related to the solenoids.

Now, I've just had the car remapped, so I think that the sudden boost in torque caused the gearbox to throw a wobbly.

Given the actual mileage (207K) I suspect that something needs looking at in the box.  The gearbox did have a service at 165K and has performed faultlessly since.

Been there, done that, doing  exactly same as you.

Overtaking on the M74, lost drive ended up on hard shoulder. Switch off and back on again. Drive back (a bit clunky) to transmission specialist who pulled same fault code as yours, 4f95 relating to E clutch.

Their cure was to refurb the box at a cost = trade in value. Hence F10 ownership.

This was at 91,500 miles having been serviced twice in its life.

I wasn't ready to give up on my V8 at the time. It was gut wrenching to get rid of it as its replacement doesn't sound as good.

Given that the car has a trade in value of approx £0, and with all the money I've spent on other areas of the car, I'll probably bite the bullet and get a remanufactured gearbox fitted from Sussex Autos.

You've done pretty well to get over £200k on it. Spend £3k on a remanufactured box, and as long as you keep the car another couple of years you've got your money's worth I reckon.
