Air con fault codes with CCu

Recommended Posts

My air con doesn't work on my 2004 e60. When I turn it on I just get hot air and multiple fault codes..

I think I need to replace the climate control unit?

So today I took it to get regassed thinking maybe it was low, but the garage told me the compressor is not engaging.. what could be causing this?

So far have checked:

Fuses

CCu replaced

Tried resetting faults but they just come back

Visually the compressor looks like the attached picture, anything look odd?

Faulty pressure switch can cause the comp not to engage.

I take it the system is fully charged?

Does the AUX fan need to be in working order on the E60 for the system to work correctly?

Im not familiar with the E60 set up regarding the air con.

also is your outside air temp reading correct? As if it’s faulty and reading -40 then the comp will not engage! ;)

Thanks for the feedback. The aux fan isn't turning, when Aircon is on. Also the clutch seems like it's not engaging as when I press the snowflake button, the centre still keeps spinning.

Outside air temp is reading fine.

Hadn't thought of the pressure sensor, assume this is the part number for a 2004 e60 64539181464. Shall I replace this first?

Just by pass it or (electrically)test it before you replace it.

So the comp clutch engages but the comp dosent run? Or the clutch doesn’t engage?

Sorry just re-read your last post, there is something holding it off from engaging, you’ve checked every fuse?

You’ve checked every electrical connection?

you’ve traced the power through from the start (fuse) to the end (comp) ?

And the system is fully charged with refrigerant?

It could be a bad connection/broken cable.

it could be the pressure switch.

it could be the comp.

it could be the clutch.

the AUX fan on the E39 didn’t kick in straight away, it only kicked in when the system reached a certain pressure, but like I say I’m not sure if that applies to the E60 model?

I would trace everything through if you think it’s electrical?
