Looking for a weekend convertible?

Have been thinking of buying a cheap weekend convertible , have a budget of about 6k but dont know what to buy, have had a ford escort and a e46 convertibles. but dont know were to start, have thought about mx5,s but at age 72 dont think i would get out of it, have concidered audi A5 saab 9-3 and bmw 118. do i look at petrol or diesel  cars,quite like the thought of having an auto. any suggestions on what to start looking at, was originally thinking of a porsche but dont think budget will be enough,thanks tim

Fortunately they never made a 5er soft top, personally I’d go for a nice e30 convertible that’s not been ‘pimped’ I’ve just been looking at one on t’e bay, met green 318i looks fresh as a daisy n priced at 5995 or best offer, lovely colour n very standard

Z4 3.0 if you don't need back seats. Or a clean 330 or e46 if you do though I like the ,merc w124 convertibles too but prob over budget. 

 

Depends what hat you will use it for.

Took my sons Z4 for its MOT the other week and found it was so low i had trouble getting out, allways promised myself a sports car but my bodys saying i have left it too late, i even found the e46 330i i had was a bit too low,hence looking at saloon based cars,tim

What year is it? 2006-2008 models had the balance shaft problem. Warning sign is the EML coming on, it’s a new engine if this fails...later 08-09 models were fine
