Shadow Chrome. Who are the best?

Recommended Posts

It’s been some 10 years since I last refurbed a set of shadow chrome m5 alloys.

who are the bona fide top guys for doing them these days?

Cheers

Lepsons.

I have two sets of Style 65s. The ones on the car are OE and as they left the factory. The spare set was refurbed in Shadow Chrome by Lepsons.

Side by side they're indistinguishable.

Lepsons are not the cheapest but there's probably a good reason for that...

Cost nowadays about £100+change per corner. (Collection & delivery extra.)

You could have a small powder coating operation do a decent job.

Lepsons are hard to beat. I had my m paras diamond cut so no actual experience of shadow chrome from them

Thanks. I do remember Lepsons as the best in market but it was a long time ago.

You're doing well to keep an OE set unrefurbed and  as they left the factory! good work :-)

I've had wheels done by Rimtech in Meopham and they looked superb. While I was there they were finishing off a set of Style 37s that they had done in shadow chrome then diamond cut the face and they looked stunning. Service spot on and very genuine guys- they found some previous welding on one of my wheels that they were not happy with after they had stripped the wheels. They called me in to explain and didn't charge for the work they had done on that wheel when we decided to junk it.

Just as good as Lepsons IMO but cheaper

Looking at sending mine to lepsons but I have read on here there shadow chrome is a little bit too dark and to ask for another pass of silver. Has anyone else experienced this with there shadow chrome finish?

Had mine done twice at Lepsons in 2017. First refurb has to be redone due to warranty issue.

Lepsons wall hung, shadow chrome demo wheel is too silver, in my opinion.

The shadow chrome achieved in the linked thread was their version of shadow chrome but with a few less passes of silver over the black base. This caused the wheels to be a little less silver then their demo but somewhere between silver chrome and light anthracite, I'd guess.

For me the finish was a little darker than what I would imagine original factory shadow chome to be. But the darker suits perfectly .
