Using a TV as second monitor - resolution

Recommended Posts

So currently my macbook pro runs with a 22" monitor connected as an extended screen.

I have sitting here a 32" sony LCD TV doing nothing, if i connect as the monitor the resolution output of the mac isn't enough to support the TV ie the pixels just get bigger so no advantage to using the bigger screen.

Is there a way to upscale the output/ increase resolution so that one can use a larger monitor?

If your Mac is post 2012 (IIRC) then it will support full HD.

Have you changed or checked the resolution in Displays Preferences via settings and select the second screen (and made changes in there)?

It's 2011 but yes check resolution settings. I think I've answered my own question that no I can't use it but thought I'd ask.
