Wheel alignment

Recommended Posts

Search for places that use the Hunter alignment set up, or old skool motorsport mechanics that will do it manually

Personally I'd stay away from the likes of ATS, Kwik Feck etc

I live in Kent, and have taken my cars to the Tyre Shop in Chingford which is a three hour round trip for me.  Run by ex Elite guys.  Very, very good.  They also have hunter force variation balancing machine which I've used.

I think the fella you need to ask for is called Gary?  Tall, athletic looking blond bloke with some tats.  Every time I go there, I insist on him doing the tracking.

Let us know how you get on.

I took it down to Leatherhead Motor Company and they did a proper job. Just over £100 all in

Did some research on this myself, these guys in Chesham, Bucks are probably the best in the country, featured in Autocar Magazine a few months ago.

Did my Focus F & R for £40. Will be taking the Beemer there soon. Well worth the trip.

Tony, the owner is very switched on and quite passionate about what he does,  they use Hunter Hawkeye equipment, If you want it done properly I highly recommend them.

Stay away from main street fast fit outfits.

Blackboots at Chesham are first class. Make an appointment and go and see Tony Bones, He has many years experience, uses state of the art equipment and the prices are reasonable. I have no hesitation in recommending them, well worth the trip.

Thanks for all the recommendations I went to the tyre shop in Chingford as it was 15mins away from me.

Was very impressed. Nice place.

They make much adjustments?

How much did it set you back if you don’t mind me asking?

They made some adjustments to the front and back. They talked me through the printout  I knew it all anyway but it was nice to get the low down from them. Shows they care.

cost me £60 for four wheel alignment.

I know some other establishments are well reviewed like wheels in motion (I nearly took mine to them) but £60.  You cant grumble at that !!!

I can vouch for these guys. I think they're pretty good. I won't go to my BMW specialist in Highams Park anymore for alignment. Asked them to do it twice and they still got it wrong. Car was crabbing across the road, according the numbers at the tyre shop.

These guys said they're getting some new kit installed soon so you can see what's happening to your car in real time as they're adjusting it on iPads.

They've also got a force balancing tool which puts load on the tyre while they balance it, so it deforms to the shape it would be when its actually on the car. More accurate than a normal balance. Helped with the infamous E39 vibration at any speed.
