It’s a shame your selling, lovely looking car. I keep catching myself checking what mines worth but I don’t think the stars would align in time.

I’ll have to take some proper pics soon. 

 

Changed the crankcase oil breather to a vortex one this morning. Surprisingly easy job. Only odd thing was the lack of a filter in the old unit. Just a lid.

Thought I would give a little update on the 530d sport touring.

 

I sold the 528i a few weeks ago, I was sad to see it go, bought it on a whim and just didn't use it. I gave my loathe 120d to my other half, and introduced the 530d to my daily 90mile commute. It's worth mentioning the engine was replaced in 2011 at 90k by BMW at the cost of £9k+ and it has just ticked past 185k last week.

 

Jobs done:

New Pirelli P7 front rubber

Fitted a vortex oil breather.

Fixed the PDC system by replacing all the sensors, bar the 2 middle rears.

Fitted a new rear wiper arm, I am yet to fix the rear wiper system. I'm guessing the shaft is seized.

Attempted to restore the rear tail lights, no idea how these get so bad. I will remove them next time and do a second run.

 

I had an inspection report yesterday at local BMW specialist M Sutherland in Winford, as I started to notice a faint hissing, faint howl noise from 2k rpm.  The noise is coming from the exhaust system and is a combination of the EGR blank and decat, so fairly happy with that.

 

Other issues include;

 

Broken up engine mount

Front lower wishbone bush split

Play in both rear upper wishbones

Needs new rear ARB drop links

 

No rust on the sills, jacking points, and the brake lines are in good shape, just the clips are rusting. I'm really pleased with that for a 185k car, it's been really well looked after over the years and has stacks of paperwork.

 

Planned jobs, mostly cosmetics:

 

Fix everything from the inspection report, get the rear wiper working, fit a new bonnet badge (genuine only - c3bmw probably), drivers side fog light is cracked, passenger side mirror plate is all scuffed - would love to retrofit powerfold mirrors, potentially get the alloys refurbed and fit new P7 rubber and fit a new bumper splash tray.

 

Question - how should the splash tray fit within the wheel arch? should it fit inside the bumper or flush with the edge of the bumper?

Chuffed that I managed to fix the seized rear wiper today. Took another attempt at doing the rear tail lights, removed them off the car this time. They came up slightly better.

 

Also restored the rear center boot trim with GTechniq C4, I will give my bumper trims a go as well.

Yes the rear wiper works perfectly.

 

Next job; Fix the key remote locking and foot well boot release.

Small update:

 

Fitted a new (genuine) bonnet badge and picked up some powerfold mirrors. If anyone has the passenger door module & drivers side switch I would be very interested.
