Thanks chris, so which ones are recomended then, ebay or arnotts for price considering I want to sell the car but in good condition obviously :-)

Individuals will give different opinions. @sshooie went the eBay route and that is working for him and is the cheapest option. There  is no side by side - BMW, Arnott, Aerosus, eBay comparison so we are all watching those that have replaced for a recurrence of the leak. So far there have been no noted failures of replaced airbags.

Thanks Matthew, just had a call from the mechanic and that part is needed and will just go down the ebay route then if most haven'd had any issues, also bad news I was expecting I do need a acctuator and of wat I researched a while back these used are hard to get hold of? BMW charging around £800 + vat he said...keeping a lookout on ebay or is anyone on here selling one? I'm always going to get warranty covered cars fro now on! :-(

Mechanic said to go order the one from ebay so looking at this website I put my info in but 2 types? How do I know which one I need?

As I mentioned before, I covered this decision process in my earlier thread . It all depends on whether your car is fitted with Integral Active Steering. If you have this option, Arnott specifically state their unit is NOT suitable, although it would fit.

I was not able to determine what the difference is between the 2 BMW part numbers. Every afermarket supplier says their unit will fit, and none makes any reference to the IAS system. As my car has this, I played safe in the end and bought the correct unit from my dealer.

My understanding is the part will fit both engine types, and I see no reason there would be a difference in any case.

That's correct - engine type or capacity has nothing to do with the selection.

The bottom airspring mount has a locating pip on it, so that's fixed. However the top mount has a black bearing - this is not just a piece of plastic, but for the Active steering cars at least, it is a greased 2 piece affair, which must be there to handle some rotation movement. It could be that this is different for non active steer cars, I don't know, but of course the bearing only comes with the spring, not available as a separate part.

Is the HP referring to the 535d instead of the 530d? How do I know if I have active steering on the car

I've offered £40 for the ebay one so lets see! :-)

Also any of the acctuators available used anywhere...no breaking GT's on ebay and does the normal 5 series have one and will it fit? £800!

F10 and F11 use a very different and more reliable electro-mechanical handbrake system.

To see whether you have Active Steering you need to check for the option listed on your VIN decode. It is a rare option. On standard steering and suspension equipped cars there is no difference in the rear airbag part numbers.

The airbags have nothing to do with the Turbo! Maybe they want the OEM number for your old Airbags? PM me your VIN and I'll take a look.

PM'd you matthew thanks

Dropped the part off earlier and the mechanic said the ebay part seems good and fitting tomorrow

Just need the roofliner for the pano roof sorted and a acctuator! Or is it ok to sell the car with these 2 issues as they are expensive repairs/parts?

Hi Anil,

It looks like you've already purchased the eBay airbag so that issue should be fixed by now. As for the roofliner and Handbrake actuator it is all down to how much of a price drop you're willing to take. A breaker is the best I would think for the 2 parts. Just finding one close by is going to be the issue.

Hi yes it's been fitted and seems ok but just noticed car was parked over night and the corner it was fitted was low, when I started the car drove it down the road checked and it had risen? Sure this didn't happen before and not happening to the other side?

Is the roofliner better to get fixed by one of the roof specialists then? Acctuator sounds like a pain in the backside! What a damn con....£800!

Is the actuator any of these?? Seems like possibly 1/2 from abroad and would they fit ok? https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_blrs=spell_check&_nkw=actuator+bmw+f07&_sop=16

Hi Anil, the parking brake actuator is none of those I'm afraid. Your car model is showing 2 part numbers: 34436874219 and 34436882651 both showing as £870 for a new part from BMW in the UK - you may get a discount so ask for a quote from Cotswold BMW here on the forum. Looking at eBay and searching for these 2 I get the first part number at £490.78 from Denmark and the second at £607.42 from the US so there will be customs and VAT charges. You will need to take a look at yours to get the correct part number.

When the airspring is removed, this allows the suspension to lower further than it would normally. The level sensor may record this as 'out of range'.  The trick is either to jack the car in the centre, or at both sides, so both wheels are off the ground, then lower the car so that both contact at about the same time and lower evenly. Ignition on and you should then hear the pump run till it blows off once re-inflated.

Thanks Matthew, massive help. Will the F01 7 series one still fit? Gives me more of a chance to get one locallyliy used, if not probably just better off buying new from the dealers I suppose :-( as used ones abroad aren't cheap either.

Sorry Anil, looking at the F01 on Realoem, it has a different part number for the handbrake mechanism (actuator) so it won't fit. As there are so many slight differences you'll need to get under your car and access the actuator to see its specific part number.
