Looks exactly like my old mans R107 V8 Motor, so i'm guessing it's the 80's/90's Mercedes 560 SEC/SEL Motor. ;)

10 points to Cableguy for bringing the knowledge and 8 points to the eagle eyed window blocker Dan

Its for sale on eBay  it looks a puke job on the conversion

That would be a nice thing to drop into a dead E32 if you had the skills.  E30s are getting to the point where they are worth a bit now if they are half decent and mostly original, so I think the vendor is doing the right thing by taking this out.

Of course, the best place for it if it's all good would be under the bonnet of a nice W126 or R107......

Why bother fitting one in an e32 when you can get a 740i already.

Is the merc engine that amazing/ powerful?

If you're going off scrip i'd look at an LS motor i think.

Merc engine is a bit more powerful than the contemporary BMW V8, but not by much - and older tech too I's say.  My point is that it would suit a big saloon better than a small one.

My 450 SLC was a V8 and it was a different beast to the BMW, just raw powel and grunt

Cant help but wonder what the E30 did when faced with a corner ! The engine may be ally, but I bet it still weighs a bit !

( one reason I went for the M42 engine in my E21 :)  )
