Other additions and deletions include, genuine 19" spiders, decat, dpf removed, egr deleted, mapping to suit, custom stainless exhaust, new tyres, new brake discs and pads and some bits of marmite exterior bling. She has full BMW dealer service history from new, which will now be going to enthusiast diy or specialist.  I'm not sure exactly what sort of power she's running, the previous owner's guess sounded a bit optimistic, but she's bloody quick by anybody's standards.  A few gremlins to sort out but nothing serious has revealed itself just yet.

Here are a few very dirty pics to start off with:

A bit of work done today.  Lots of cleaning and some fettling with a very badly bypassed EGR valve, which is temporarily blanked at the cooler until my manifold blanking plate arrives.  It was blanked at the end of the EGR cooler to valve supply pipe, which decided to let go and fill the engine bay with soot and noxious gasses.  Anyway, all done now.  Also took her for a 4 wheel alignment on the Hunter Hawkeye system.  Rear toe, camber and caster were out by a good margin but are now in spec.  Front toe and camber were also miles out but again are right in the "middle of the green".

LOTS of photos of a lovely clean E60:

That's really tidy now Ross. How do you rate the E60 against the E39 (age old question I know! lol) I love a 39, especially a 530d and may soon be getting another, but do keep having guilty thoughts of a 60 or 61 :D

Looks nice, personally I would lose the ///M badge from the rear of the car.

Enjoy :-)

Thanks. In terms of dynamics, the E60 is lightyears ahead of the E39, BUT there's a lot more electronic stuff to go wrong. Personally, my experience of E39s hasn't lived up to their reputation for build quality and reliability. I'd have to say that the E60 is a better car in all respects.

With the skirt decals, wrapped roof, grille fin badge etc, I think the matt black ///M 530d badge is the least of my worries. Besides, I think she deserves it. Literally every M-sport box on the options list was ticked on the build order for this car. :D

Personally speaking i am having a bit of a mare at the moment with my new to me e61,rear wiper not working, dead battery on Monday morning now this morning the wife rings me enroute to work to say she,s turned and headed for home as the dash has lit up like a Christmas tree, from what she,s told me sounds like symptons of water ingress into the spare wheel well,

Starting to miss my e39 Sport Tourer and all the problems it never had now,

Ah well onwards and upwards.

Yep, they can be problematic.  I have a couple of minor issues to sort out.  A bluetooth antenna module that appears to be dead, and a glowplug controller with the same issue.  Both will be opened up and have the solder joints re-flowed before shelling out for new parts.  The Japanese definitely have us licked in the minor gremlin stakes.

I guess it's partly down to just personal preference, but I am feeling love for an E61.

I know what you mean about more to go wrong though. I'm currently rocking an E65 745i which I like a lot more than I expected, but drive it permanently with my ass clenched, waiting for something expensive to go wrong! :D

Thanks. She scrubs up pretty well.

New domed LED angel eye bulbs fitted and HIDs properly seated today. Hands cut to ribbons but the lighting is much better now. Also enabled the amber eyebrows on Carly. I think they look great.
