E39 wheels on an F11?

Recommended Posts

Hi

Hope someone can help!

I was wondering, would 16 inch E39 wheels (strictly for winter use) be compatible on a non-Msport F11 (which otherwise rides on 17/18 inch rims)?

I've seen an ad for some used E39 rims, but clearly don't want to splash out if they're not compatible.

Thanks!

I believe 17"s are the smallest you can go on F10/11 with the four and six cylinder engines

The F11 takes wheels in these sizes/offsets (same all round) and with an M14 wheel bolt:

8JX17 ET:30        225/55R17 97H

8JX18 ET:30        245/45R18 100V

8,5JX19 ET:33     245/40R19 98Y

Make sure you match the size and offset to drive the car as BMW intended.

The E39 is probably something like:

7JX16 ET:20 with an M12 bolt

+1

The F10/11 needs 17" wheels as a minimum, this is to clear the lower front suspension balljoint shank.  Its nearer the rim than my caliper on my 17" 327 winters.  The rear is a tight fit on my F10 at 17" from the caliper.  But  I have slightly larger rear brakes than others.

I think the E39 has a different sized spigot mount too.
