How Long Have You Owned Your E39?

Recommended Posts

A bit of a lightweight post I admit, but I suddenly realized this week that in February I will have owned mine for nine years! Will have only done about 30, 000 miles in that time though.

In that time, several other of our family cars have been changed, but the E39 hangs on in there...

Any other long-timers here?

19 years and 4 months. I win (probably) :P

That's pretty close to the maximum possible of 22 years if you bought one at launch in Europe.  Congratulations!

I'm quite a newbie, having only acquired my 530D Touring back in March of this year. Pleased to say I've already had the chance to take it on a good run back home to Germany in that time!

Lol...parts only cost a fair bit. Hence I do all my own work. In the past year it's a turbo, all new brake lines, disc's pads, rear shocks, new boot lid, front wings and normal service parts.

E39 530d manual - owned for 9.5 years and have put 105,000 miles on it. Odometer now showing 165k.

Hoping for 300k if I can fend off the ravages of corrosion. (300k not too unrealistic given that the manual gearbox will last as long as the engine.....probably. )

E39 M5 - owned for 4.3 years and have put 14k miles on it. Hoping it will become a family heirloom.

530i saloon bought back in 2009 so nearly 9 years, I’ve done 70k miles and now showing 150k. The car is now a track car. Car is the best car I’ve owned. It requires love but never let me down 56c319509e027_ScreenShot2016-02-16at12.41.38.thumb.png.103a7e7f08387efaa539d4a7cfddcb61.pngLHP_7868.thumb.jpg.33132a0971780b447cc8e6bf049b25e8.jpg

5 and a half years and put 39k on it. Now at 185k.

Most reliable car I've ever owned apart from the usual wear n tear...tyres, battery, sus' components and that's it.

I replied to this thread but never actually updated my ownership.

Owned mine now for 2 years, 2 months. Sitting on 151k and ive put on 11k of that.

Loving everything about it and slowly starting to put my own stamp on it.
