BMW E3 - if I had to have one car forever....

Recommended Posts

.... this would be very high on my (albeit long) shortlist.  Beautiful proportions, oozes class - and better looking (in my opinion of course) than the E12 and E23 which followed, good as those cars were.

Apologies for the crudity if these pictures - they are from the current BMW Car Magazine. This is one of the issues I’ll keep!

Alpina theme, a colour close to my favourite BMW shade - perfection.

Literally one car for ever?

Sticking with BMW it would be an e34 M5 touring with RHD conversion....

.... probably.

If you could make one then an e39 M5 touring.

touring, has to be.

I agree an e39 touring is probably the most complete car ever made and the perfect last car ever.

But if I had a touring, I'd just end up carting around other peoples crap.

So I'll have a saloon, with fixed seats. :D

E3's are alright, but you can't beat the real thing:

I don't think I'd fancy fuelling one of those for life!  That said, as a kid, I used to have dreams about this thing:

Why does it have to be a touring, I suppose they have a practical benefit, but a saloon  looks better.

As an only car, an E24 635 must be up there. Truly modern mechanicals, decent performance, and sheer bloody luxury!

I love my E21 Baur, but it's a crude old thing really in terms of noise etc. As a real world car, the E39 especially in touring form, ticks almost every box for me, from spirited driving to taking crap to the dump.
