Car is worse than a new born

9 posts in this topic

Good morning all, (typical English politeness it's actually quite a bad morning).

So the BMW has decided it needs feeding once every couple of hours. It sets its alarm off to let everyone know! My neighbours hate me today.

Anyways. Does anybody have some common things to check? My first port of call is the bonnet. I parked it the other way around so the wind might be getting.

Grrr I need sleep

It's a saloon. I only have a key and currently fob doesn't work. How do you lock without setting the alarm. I tried to Google it but can't find owt

Put the key in the lock and turn it to lock the car.  Easy!

Try unplugging the siren till you find out the problem that's what I did with my 90 model till I can get to it.

Not a bad plan. But will that not immobilise the car?

I did some trial and error yester day. Stupidly the boot was closed but with a bag wedged in the catch. I wondered if that was setting it off. I did that and no alarm last night :-)

Looks like you might have solved that one, disconnecting the siren on mine didn't immobilise the car but  it is an aftermarket one.
