Hiii am thinking of doing a engiine swap on my e34 tds estate for  a diesel engine out of a e39 so is it possible & will the e39 engine have to be out of a estate so wiring loom will be long enough.reason for change is tds is too slow.can i leave interior loom or has that to be changed also thanks.

Are we talking about the M57, the 3.0l diesel from E39? To be honest, regardless which one you're after, it's a lot of work with many custom made parts and I'm not sure if the end result is worth it?

Here's a thread on Bimmer Forums, where someone asked some about about the swap > https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?2070822-e34-m57-swap-rpm-gauge

And here's another link from that thread with pictures of how much work is involved > http://sklenus.rajce.idnes.cz/88_BMW_e34_530d

Agreed, sounds like a lot of hassle for not a lot of gain. If the shell is clean, I would just live with tds's power or lack of it. ;)
