Easy Outs/Screw/Stud Extractors??

Anyone know who makes the best easy outs /screw extractors ?

It is to remove two broken 6mm exhaust studs.

I have stubby Snap On ones in a red case that are hex ended and allow sockets to be used on them and the flipper broke.

Anyone tried Irwin ?

I have 1/4 inch or so of stud sticking out.

It was only two bolts that snapped.

I've just been soaking them in Plus Gas.

Dont really know if heating head is an option.

Looking into easy outs as it's next option with drilling and tapping if these fucjers snap

I had the same thing happen to me and I used something similar to these:

Thought they were brilliant and a lot less messing about than drilling and tapping out tiny little 6 mm studs!!

I had roughly 1/4" of exhaust stud remaining and it took them out no problems at all.

Definitely worth a go imho before you go down the drill/tapping route!

Good luck! ;)

Irwin Nutgrips, bloomin brilliant.

don't use anything like an easy out etc, if they dont come out with a vice grip clamped to them or a nutgrip then you'll more than likely just snap an easy out in it, which is a while other world of pain.

are they really only M6?   they tend to be M8 or larger in my experience.

That's what I was thinking hence the stud extractors.

I have a set similar to the machine mart ones mentioned above but they need a certain length of exposed thread for them to work. I bought mine after getting into a world of trouble on my Senator, but I've never used them.

I have used one of these to get the plastic vent plug on my E39 out of the top of the radiator after shearing off the head.

Ah sorry, missed that bit.

As @711jrp said, or can you get two nuts on what's left of the stud and lock them together and unscrew them out, might not be enough for that....

Let us know how you get on.

with a 1/4 inch sticking out a nutgrip should do the trick if it will come out.
