Active pedestrian protection

Recommended Posts

Ok,

I'm starting to get annoyed with how many options on the car that I don't understand. I get its not the cars fault..

i digress; what the hell is "active pedestrian protection"?!  What does it mean, what does it do?

cheers again,

AP

I have this on my 525.

There is a sensor at the front of the car that detects if you are colliding with a pedestrian. If so it will release the bonnets three connections and allow it to slide toward the windscreen when the person hits it.

Quite bazaar

It would need to be reset at a dealership

Interesting, I was also curious as to what this might mean, assumed it was just some fancy word for a safe shape bonnet :)

The fact that it'll de-clip and slide is interesting, and probably prevents them impacting the windshield, as long as they can navigate safely over the now open , exposed & hot engine :)
