What's your dream e28

Recommended Posts

So I went for a run today and to pass the time I thought what my dream e28 would be. I cane up with:

Solid black manual 535i se with chrome.

Moonroof, cruise, a/c and rear blind over the usual spec.

Cream sport electric leather

Deviating from oe I'll have a rotrex supercharger stand alone Ec, e34 m5 6-speed box, bilstein b8s and H&R springs, e34 m5 brakes and m5 arbs.

Body wise I'll have mtech arch spats and e30 m3 evo 16s

Just about perfect.

What's yours?

Mmmm got 2 in my head - 1st being totally de-chromed / shadowline spec, finished in Basalt Blau paint, full black leather with recovered Scheel front seats . Sitting on Original Alpina Open Lug Light Alloy Wheels, with black centres staggered 16 x 7 (Front), 16 x 8 (Rear). Brembo brake upgrade and stiffened suspension set up. Under bonnet a silky M30 six coupled to a six speed manual box.

2nd choice a custom pearlescent Delphin Alpina B9, full Recaro red leather interior, custom panoramic roof and not much else really apart from BOSE and ambient lighting and a custom head up display !

Money no object, then it would have to be an M5 or Alpina, failing that any M30 engined E28 with the, must have, manual gearbox, my 528i bought six years ago for £650, in terms of £££'s per smile one of the best, cheapest cars I have ever owned, would I sell it, I have been offered 2k, yes but only to get another one so it would be the wrong reason to sell. A 535i SE in a good colour, manual, with 16'' BBS or Alpina wheels would be a big, if costly improvement on what I have.

Still hankering after one Duncan?

Can cruise control be retrofitted to an M5 Dan?

Schwartz black, M88, M5 box + LSD, M5 or E34 brakes, coilovers and style 5's....oh and e24 M635 recaro buckets. That's my dream, I have all the ingredients bar the coilovers and hopefully my dream will become reality in 2018!

Interesting choice. Care to elaborate?

I just like the idea of lightweight and efficient E28s. M10s are/were two a penny and there are/were plenty of cheap turbo kits about to form the basis. It would be comparatively easy to make a 300hp M5 crusher, that for me would retain a tinkering diy aspect. A car plus 2K should do it. 1K to upgrade the chassis/brakes and 1K for the engine should get it rolling and tinkerable.

I'll be building mine when I have finished my other projects. M535i, M30 bi-turbo I want around 500whp diamond black with chrome, bbs rc035 and some other subtle mods. Oh and I'll be keeping the dog leg box cos it's

Hmm a certain well respected moderator on here had that dream and it turned into a two year nightmare of epic proportion.

Not me. It was Splondike. Engaged a specialist and after lots of failed promises reclaimed the car. Unpicking revealed some suspect work.

Thanks to some members on here and marks determination to push on saw him through.
