Lovely car; more or less spotless sand beige interior; drivers seat is quite discoloured, so going to get on with cleaning that ASAP. Fingers crossed it comes up, otherwise it'll be a more intensive clean and maybe a re-dye

A few mechanical niggles to sort, as per the tech section

Needs body work also (both rear arches need care, drivers side is the worse), that end of the sill needs sorting also. But all jacking points are solid. NS sill needs sorting, small dent in OS front wing, the valance above the rear bumper has 2 patches of rust in the usual places and the rear bumper has a crack/asciuff to it, fingers crossed it can be plastic-welded, if not, it'll be another bumper :(

Will get on and clean engine bay tomorrow, it's disgusting! Going to put the OEM H7's back in as well; currently it's running some HIDS4U HID set up and I prefer to use OEM ballasts and decent D2S bulbs in soon enough alongside LED halos etc

Wheels will get a basic sand down, respray and lacquer by me as well, that'll do for them until I come across a sensibly prices set of Style 42's or maybe Style 37s

Need to sort the OEM tape unit out and replace the horrible Parrot Bluetooth hands free kit that's fitted currently. Very fickle with connection and a terrible sound!

That's about it... Fer noo :D

In solid condition, with masses of paperwork

Only 105k miles

Had quite a few thousand £££ spent on it's maintenance since 2012  Just can't understand why the bodywork was left...

Don't think the rear seats have ever been sat in!

Pics as I collected it:

Been giving it a thorough clean inside and the engine bay this morning

Hoovered the engine bay  Was full of debris etc - all plastics wiped down and nice and clean now. That was after I used liberal amounts of brake cleaner to get rid of the horrible build up on/around the PS reservoir; cleaned all the old grease out of the bonnet latches and locks. All re-greased with lithium grease. Air filter removed and cleaned, air box hoovered out too  Will get a K&N filter sorted ASAP

  • HIDS4U xenon kit removed; standard Osram Nightbreaker H7's fitted back in for now until I source some OEM ballasts etc
  • Stat and top hose ordered; deffo a stat issue, temp on Torque Pro isn't getting above 67ºC!
  • Drivers seat been given a good scrub with a gentle leather cleaning brush and Autoglym leather cleaner; looks much better, but not good enough. So need to look into alternate methods or it'll need a re-dye
  • Car booked into body shop (20th March) to have the rear arches, sills and rear valance (above rear bumper) de-rusted and repainted. Rear bumper needs to be replaced really as the cracks will always be a weak point; so will look for one when I can and get that and the OS front wing sorted at the same time
  • Interior LED kit ordered; rear number plate LED lights ordered
  • GoodRain wiper blades ordered

Why sell the old one if you've just gone and bought another one? Lol

It was a needs must at that time... Plus I have 2 other cars and my wife's car as well...

At that time; the 530i was a luxury

Apologies; didn't realise I needed to explain my situation

No need to explain yourself. It just seems strange that's all. People usually get rid of cars and buy another when there was something wrong with it.

Nope... Nothing wrong with it, just wasn't being used and with a change in direction of one of my Ltd companies; the lump sum was going to be useful...

Glad to see you back with one Dan, looks tidy ;)

Cheers... It'll be tidier when it's back from having the first part of it's bodywork project done :)

Well if it ends up as tidy as your slate green one was, it should be spot-on ;)

Will you be going the flappy-paddle route again?

No, not this time

TBH I'm gonna keep the car as OEM as possible bar alloys, suspension and head unit etc...

Ive just forked out £1500 on parts from ICB Motorsports in the States for my EF9 B18/B20 build... ;)

The DC5 is being put back to stock, the 'worked' K20/K24 engine has already solid as have the Nitron coilovers and Enkei alloys etc

The 530i will be my bit of luxury and smoothness... Fat lad here wants to squeeze into the little CRX for hoonigan days out attacking B roads and the Anglesey track :D:oops:

Really want these for the Rex too: http://www.icbmotorsport.com/ravoratelied25.html

Just have to see how close to breaking even on the DC5 I get

Nowt wrong with keeping the 530 for luxury, the rest of the stable should give you enough thrills! DC5 should be fun

Had the DC5 for the last 4 years now; longest time I've ever owned a car

It's being put back to OEM as we speak; most of the mods have sold! Time to recoup some £££ back

Still not got the damned thing back from the body shop

I did get it back last week; looked really well, but unfortunately the filler over a few of the small cracks on the rear bumper had sunk it due to it being so hot, so the paint & lacquer followed suit... You couldn't see it unless you knew where it was, but the body shop guy wasn't happy, so he's fit it in around the other plethora of cars he's got in and I'll collect it tomorrow or Tuesday hopefully!

Just ordered a new water pump & belts to go on at the same time as the stat and temp sender etc... Top & bottom hoses were renewed last year, so they're more or less as new and the rad is fine, not fixing something that isn't broken but I know it's not the original one too, so it's fine :)

Will get a dents guy out to the car next week sometime (Adam at the body shop recommended him) to see if he can sort the small dents on the bonnet and wing; if not, it'll go in for a front end respray sometime later in the year! Will also get a leather interior specialist out to see if he can do some magic on the drivers seat!

Will get the bits fitted ASAP and then I'm going to do a basic refurb of the Style 66 alloys the cars got along with new centre caps and M badges.

I'm doing my best not to go OTT with the spend on this car (apart from maintenance and necessary bits). My DC5 has now gone, but it's cost me £500 to get it back to OEM. Engine and uprated running gear being collected next week; that'll make my wallet feel a lot better and the Works alloys are being shipped to the States. Received the UPS paperwork yesterday, so will get them wrapped and boxed ready for collection on Thursday and that's another £1500 back in my pocket :D

The CRX I'm building is already paid for, managed to get it to budget of £6k and have decided to stick with a B18/B20 build rather than something more up to date like a K20 build etc... The conversion kit alone was c£2k!

It's nice when money comes back in your direction! Lol

Good too that your bodyshop man is conscientious enough to want to redo the bumper without you having to ask!

Absolutely; more so as I've just ordered these

The guy who's collecting the K20 built engine, StopTech brakes and various Toda engine parts that I didn't use has sent me £2k via bank transfer to ensure me he's genuine  He'll be up on Thursday in his Dad's van to collect it all (already on a pallet and securely wrapped (secure and safely but also security marked in case anyone tries any funny business)!

Couldn't resist those alloys though
