What are you listening to?

Recommended Posts

Been listening to Hand Like Houses (Australian rock band from Canberra. Formed in 2008) mainly the album Dissonants released last year.  We met them in the Joiner in Southampton too - real great bunch of guys, very down to earth :)

Hope these links work!

My 2012 Mac Mini/iTunes etc...

Currently it's running through an MF M1DAC into my NAD C320BEE and I'm playing about with the AE109s I've got, but I've some Monitor Audio RX1s on Roxdon isolation pads on the desktop...

The AE109s are just a bit of fun, far too powerful for my small office... Puts a great smile on my face though when I hammer out some bassy tracks or something like Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' or SOAD's 'Hypnotise' on full whack ;)

 YES, YES, YES and YES!

And call me cheesy and cliched but there is nothing better than listening to 808 state whilst watching the sun come up after a particularly heavy night. ;)

 As for watch your bass bins, this will shake them to pieces; :D

 I've been listening to stuff from the start of the next decade too, like this extremely good bit of progressive house;

808 state jay? You've gone up in my estimation.

Tonight I've been a bit old school with James, squeeze, the stranglers and sexy beast sound track.

Hi,

Some of the posted tracks on youtube in this thread I remember vividly playing at clubs, university gigs, house parties etc and still sound awesome today!

A very wide mix of genre's for me, but Progressive, Deep House has always been a big part of all my Audio time. Just a tiny selection here of some absolute anthems for me;

Lots more I could post too, but better leave it there ... for now!

Cheers, Dennis!

You tried any third party software on that Mac? Roon's a few quid, but well worth it if you use it a proper source into proper equipment...which looks what you're doing ;)

On a different note, these two, amongst a few others in the growing vinyl collection have been giving my deck a good work out of late:

And remember folks, it's almost the weekend :D

Cheers,

Nick

Yeah; I tried Roon and TBH; didn't think it was all that

With my system on my desktop being so near field; it's just not worth the expense IMO

The MF DAC is very good indeed and connected via ASYNC; it does a great job and upscales too!

Guess it depends on what you use it for - I've got a Tidal account, so that integrates perfectly, and I've pasted in the BBC Radio URLs, so have internet radio as well as music library in one app, and tweaked to get the most out of the DAC!

Well to update this

I'm listening to bugger all currently as my heads full, so I'm more or less deaf and when I'm speaking, it feels like I've got my head in a goldfish bowl :lol:

Anyways... I've sold all my hifi (well, amp, MF DAC, MA RX1 speakers and my Cyrus 8DAC/KEF LS50 speakers... :(

I've decided that less clutter is what's needed... So...

I've bought these: http://petertyson.co.uk/index.php/kef-ls50-wireless.html (going to collect them next week, got a good price for 'cash in hand')! :D These will be the living room system, so need to order some decent stands, will probably go for the Partington Broadside stands, already have atabites to load them with etc :)

Going to get my AE109s down from the loft and use them with my NAD C320BEE in my office (desk to be moved to accommodate the floorstanders), but will use the Creative Audio speakers for a desktop sound (NAD/AE system for normal everyday background listening and for cranking it up when I'm losing it haha). Will look into USB DACs for this system to go between the NAD and my Mac Mini, but thinking along the lines of the HRT Music Streamer II DAC etc, simple plug n play, or (if I can find one for a good price), the NAD D1050 DAC
