service light not resetting after going over?

6 posts in this topic

hi

i serviced my car myself and tried to reset oil service light using the youtube guide but it doesnt seem to go into the "mode" .

im reading that its locked because its gone over the mileage and the light is now red rather than orange?

if so how can  i do it....is it a case of plug into computer?

anyone in birmingham that can do it relatively cheap?

Perseverance is the name of the game here.

I struggled to reset brake pads after DIY fitment. It wasn't  in the red when I started but in trying to reset it went into the red. Took about half a dozen attempts to reset but I got there.

have tried several times . it keeps going to the -------- after the orange triangle phase? and if i continue to hold it will go to the hidden menu

anyone else had this issue, is it because the oil service is showing overdue by 2400 miles (its been done though)

Sounds like you are not doing it correctly.

When you get the orange triangle come up, don't you release and press again?  This should then toggle thru the options of what service icon needs resetting.  The one that needs resetting will the the one that first appears.

Try

Ignition position 2

press bcc to date

odo 5 secs until symbol appears (oil can, brakes, filters etc)

press odo repeatedly until desired symbol appears

press and hold odo until reset appears release and press again to reset

Above lifted from a different forum.

Its been a while since I reset my E60 so I can't quite remember off the top of my head.
