The body work looks mint, i guess a new front bumper would look sharper. But i like it as it is.

£1275 for cat c 518i. Prices are really going up on these.

do you think these leather seats are factory?

I have a cunning plan, i expect to make money on this classic without getting my hands dirty.

of course i didnt go and look at it, its miles away from me. But ive arranged a car transportation company to go and collect this cracker on a trailor. I cant wait to see it. Its going to be so exciting, i actually get more excited when i see someone else's e28 than my own in the garage for some reason? but this is mine, its going to be emotional.

That wonderful m10 unit looks totally stock and all together. I imagine it will cost under £5 to get it running sweetly. I cant believe its seized. Its worth far more if i get it to run. 27 other bids before mine stole this minter.

my long term plan with this car however is short term ownership. A bit of a jimmy savile, swap the bits that are better than my own 518i lux. Then back on ebay as a runner! quids in. I may make hundreads even thousands.

Ive also got so many spares in my lock up to chuck at this - With a suitable sized hammer, shes going to make a gorgeous sister.

I just hope i wont get too attached.

Thousands from a cat c 518 sold complete? Even as s runner I doubt it.

A good bumper is 250 so your at Least 1500 in plus trailering.

Good luck and keep us posted

3 and a half is prob what im expecting

Hey thats a manual 518i lux!

Trailoring cost is £190

Cat C means nothing on a classic car like this with a minor cosmetic

As for the front bumper, i can tell you they go for a lot more than £250 when you export euro chrome to the USA! ask me how i know

Ive got loads of spares i will even do you a club discount on some decent bumpers!

I also just so happen to have the same lux model pearl beige in my own e28 as this bronze model. Im not sure if the brown leather quite works with the pearl carpet even if it was a factory option.

But ill have those beige rear winders for sure, and the whole carpet if its cleaner than mine. Sports steering wheel and who knows it may have a mint tool kit and boot carpet! This bronze car is described to have come from a dedicated enthusiast and the engine bay and interior supports this claim, so what happened to the guy did he die at the wheel and loose control?

Nevermind the bad bits, cars from the 80s are booming in value. This is a bargain original car.

Hi Paul,

Back in 2010 this car appeared on retrorides and appeared to be in good condition owned by a chap charnock:

My Bronzitbeige 525e originally had a pearl beige Lux interior until it wore out and faded away.  I replaced the seats initially with Nutria comfort leather last April and quite enjoyed the two tone effect:

Later during the summer I was able to obtain the Nutria door cards, centre consoles, glove box and under dash covers.  The interior in now very brown:

Still undecided about the two tone effect.  May go for beige glove box, centre consoles, under dash with nutria door surrounds, arm rests and door pull surrounds over a beige inner door card.

Good luck with the rescue.

Regards,

Mick

are you saying this auction was perverted?

I had set my max bid twice, one at 1235 then increased it to 1498 before the auction ended. This guy met my initial bid but didnt beat my final bid.

i think you are out of touch with classic bmw values and looking for shadows. I however am an ebay tycoon and classic car & parts dealer. I predicted this car to sell for around £1200 when it was first listed at 99p.

When i relist i predict 3k. No funny bids.

speaking of such have you got yourself a bmw yet? im tired of seeing your honda on 2 wheels

I think I'd wait to see how "good" it is before making predictions

I honestly don't see it making 3k with a new bumper.

As an ebay tycoon you may have called its final cost but i would say you should add on the trailer and bumper cost and that again is it final price ... i am doubting 3K is its value complete, but we can live and learn

One thing's for sure , your enthusiasm for slow 1.8 saloons is amazing and your posts if anything are entertaining, i look forward to more:)

+1 for a good entertaining thread, but a 518i is never going to set the world on fire, even a mint 518, good luck with getting 3k for it come resale.
