Well you have all cursed me. Dropped my little lad of at his mum's today got back in the car wouldn't start. I poo poo you not car been in my possession 24 hours and it brakes down. Not only does it brake down it does it at the end of my exes drive. Not the best luck I guess. Spoke to the bloke who sold it to me and got to say he's been straight up. I got it recovered to a local BMW specialist so just need to wait for them to open in the morning. Not the best start to my life back in a BMW but we shall see.

Ah bad luck not a good start.

Hopefully something simple

Straight up about what?

About sorting it out. It's in at a local BMW specialist. Who I trust as I have know them for 30 years and sent them many cars. The seller has just told them to fix it and he will pay whatever it takes. He drove it 100 miles to deliver the car to me on Saturday so there is no way he would of don't that if there was a fault he knew about. Was in the car trade for over ten years myself so know these thing can happen. He is putting it right I know it's not the best start but nothing I can do about it now.

Oh right - yeah that is very noble of him. Total respect for honest people when it comes to cars or just anything generally. Some guys really exploit the "sold as seen" concept and use it to deceive.

I hate this man. I parked up on a main road last year for about 30mins while I went in to grab a bite. Came back with scratches all over my driver door, some knob probably didn't know how to do a 3-point turn without being a retard, the road was so wide too!

Maybe just park elsewhere? away from junctions, fold mirrors & stay tight to the curb

A couple of years ago I came out of the supermarket to find a big dent in my rear panel. There was some 90 degree parking and a Mitsubishi Pajero with it's tyre on the back had reversed into me. A note left on my windscreen for the sake of witnesses, but the details were fake. You take a risk anywhere you park, every so often I get a new mark on a panel.  In that respect I'm happy to berunning an old car becuase it really doesn't matter so much. If it was a new or immaculate car I'd be really pissed off.

Finally got round to putting some decent gloss black grills on it and re-stick the number plates back on so they're not loose at the ends.

Only taken me 10 months to do it.

Were you hoping the plates would conveniently fall off as you went through a gatso

Had the Hunter 4 wheel alignment done after ditching the run flats last week for ku39's.

Such a difference in the drive of the car now and perfectly straight.

Paid Kwik Fit (my local branch is actually very good) £100 for an alignment plan. 7 further alignments over the next 2 years if I fancy.

I'd feel a bit of a tea-cosy going back every 3 months but might just do so.

Although the car's running well it's now 10 years old and I've been wondering about replacing the vacuum pipes as preventative maintenance. It's an early LCI and I seem to remember that there's a difference between LCI/pre-LCI vac plumbing. Can anyone advise please - and is it still a manifold off job for some pipes?

not today but on Saturday gave the car a clean, nice bit of snow foam, 2 bucket method wash and put it in the garage + hoovered the interior. In antisipation of the nice  weather on Sunday I thought I'd treat it to a coat of show wax (only lasts a month but the gloss is worth it) gave the wheels a polish with AG super resin polish and applied Sonax wheel sealant to them. it's dirty again now but was worth it for this picture on Sunday

I received a note from my local BMW dealer telling me that my E60 was due its annual check.  This will be the E60 that I last took to them 5 years ago and have since traded up for an F10, 16 months ago which has been to the same dealer twice, so they should know I've got a new car now........

Having washed it yesterday I had a look round it today with some t-cut and tar remover to clean up some marks. Found scratches too that I hadn't seen yesterday -

Ended up giving it a polish so looking nice ATM. Gave the headlights a bit of a going over too in an attempt to clean them up. Certainly better, but although they look great when finished with the compound I was using, very quickly went back to 'marked'. May well be inside the lenses I suppose or perhaps I need to machine them instead.
