    Immobiliser Problem

    Hi everyone, hope someone can help with advice. I have recently bought a BMW 525D F10 2010 reg. it came with a key fob (see photos) recently, I have been having issues with the car starting up. You press the start/stop button and nothing happens with the engine and only turns the electrics on or off. Sometimes even the alarm goes off. Inside the cubby box under the steering wheel(see photos) is some light with a button on it. I think the key fob with the button on it is for this. Whenever I have this problem the light flashes. Not sure if this is a 2nd immobiliser? Has anyone come across this before? Is this a after marker immobiliser? Can I remove it? Can I disable the alarm? I spend about 5/10 minutes pressing the button on the key fob, eventually the red light stops flashing and allows me to start my car. On the display is says ‘ignition on’ sometimes when this problem occurs. No faults on the car showing. any advice would be greatly welcomed and thanks for reading my post, Owain
  2. Hi Guys. Think my car had an unwanted visitor last night. In view of problems with keyless cloning/scanning etc I was thinking of buying a couple of "Faraday" Wallets to avoid RF leakage/cloning/scanning. However, I came across the Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser today which seems the dogs b******s. Anyone had any experience/thoughts. called local BMW dealership who had never heard of it and suggested warranty would be compromised.

    electrical issue

    when i got my 540 the previous owner said that if it didnt start with the key then to touch a retrofitted wire onto the + terminal in the engine bay to start it. it was almost like an AA man/RAC man type fix if i had to take a guess. i have since hard wired this in as people in petrol stations get upset when they see electricty arcing in your engine bay. now if the switch is on the start runs, regardless of if the engine is running or if the key is in the ignition. the car obviously wont start without the key in the start position on the ignition as no lectrics/fuelpump etc is on. the starter will still crank tho. the PO said it was an immobiliser issue, but it doesnt always do this. i can start normally for the first few times in a day and after that ill have to use the switch in the engine bay to do it. sometimes if i let it sit for a while then itll start normally with the key. where do i start? starter relay? immobiliser? i was going to set about wiring the switcih into me dash so i dont have to pop the bonnet each time but id rather get rid of the problem. i have another e34 to swap parts from but its an m50 525 so i dont know if that would be any help. the starter seems fine with no funny noises and it starts pretty quickly each time regardless of if its switch or key. i have factory fitted alarm. hoping someone can shed some light on the matter as its a pain in the ass when i need to make a quick getaway from somewhere
