  1. hi all, I have internet as an optional extra in my CIC and am able to connect my phone (Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia XZ2 and Samsung Galaxy A3 2016) to it no problem, but the internet doesn't actually work. It says "starting internet" or something and then hangs until eventually, it says "cannot connect to the internet, please try again later" Is there a workaround? Can one install an app on phone to tether the Bluetooth internet via an understood protocol by the vehicle? I have upgraded the CIC software to the 2014 version (latest) I have enabled Bluetooth tethering on my device I have restarted everything I have disabled music and contacts and messages and only ticked Data on CIC Anyone else having trouble connecting with their Android device to the internet?

    USB connectivity

'Ay up, I've hit the search function, but got nothing.. I plugged my my phone into the arm rest USB port (samsung Galaxy s5 neo) and got nothing. At all. The phone charged, but wasn't recognised as an external device. The phone saw that it was connected to a computer, so I tried all the connection options there, but nothing on each. anyone got any advice or tips?.. TIA - AP.
  4. Hi Just bought an e39 off here, wondering if anyone can help. The android headunit that came with it has a currupted SD card, so the SAT NAV doesn't work, searched high and low but can seem to find a map to download or install. So was wondering if anyone knows or has any asvice on this. I've attached pictures for reference, many thanks guys
  5. So, my MK IV NAV unit has packed up. I thought about getting it fixed, which isn't took expensive. However, having been using my phone, I've realised that Google maps with live traffic is way better than the old system anyway! I read up on aftermarket Android replacements a couple of years ago and concluded that they seemed a bit flaky and were a bit expensive. The options in the market now seem to have moved on and are also more reasonably priced. I was thinking about this "Pumpkin" unit: http://www.autopumpkin.co.uk/android-5-1-car-radio/bmw-android-5-1-car-radio/pumpkin-7-inch-quad-core-android-5-1-car-stereo-for-bmw-5-series-e39-e53-x5-m5-support-dab-3g-wifi-obd2-steering-wheel-control.html Does anybody have any experience of this unit, or previous ones from the same company? Thank in advance!
  6. Hi guys, having played around for quite awhile with a few different media interfaces and various attempts at getting an Android system integrated into the stock screen in my 535d I have finally got a system which I am pretty pleased with so thought I would share. I have done a quick youtube vid so you can see it in action: As a previous project I had upgraded the CCC system to CIC, the Android system works in a similar way to the other media interfaces by intercepting the LVDS cable as it enters the screen. The device gives 1220x480 resolution on the stock CIC screen and operates just like an Android tablet. It comes with a touchscreen which is installed in front of the standard display, it does go behind the plastic trim though so you can't even tell it is there. You can also use the USB port for other input devices like a touchpad (as I do) but also a mouse and keyboard work fine (if not hugely practical in a car!!!) It has a SIM card slot for data and supports bluetooth, wifi, 3G and GPS. I have used an SD card extension cable to route down into the glovebox so that I can add extra files as needed. It is a full android system, so you can download any apps you want from the play store, you can access the internet and any email or social media as you want. I have linked the audio out into the Aux port on my E60 and I use it to play MP3s using PowerAMP. Personally I think it is pretty slick and looks really good installed and in my opinion also pretty stock too. Let me know what you think.
