  1. Give it chance you say...more or less a week now eh!
  2. I guess nobody knows
  3. I'm about to try and get yet another auto box door an old E39 530d after 2 were sold then a totally useless mob called Mopart sent the wrong one, anyway Mine's a 5L4E/A5S360R but how do I know that's what's coming to the door, there's numbers on the green GM label but it's not the same as these are there any marking on it to say it's these ones I posted as I don't want another fk up Either that or I'll pick it up and make sure it's right before leaving

    Trouble finding an auto box

    Didn't think anybody would know
  6. For an old 99 E39 530d Its got a 5L4E GM but there's none about, well we're 2 but now gone and the one that I found now isn't the right one as according to RTB mine's also got a code AS 60 R but they only have an AS90R and it's different software to run it. Mine ended either late 99 and Bm seemingly brought out the other 90R in early 00. I thought all it had to be was this 5L4E but no. Im now seriously thinking of converting to manual as I'm not willing to pay £2000 + for a rebuild

    Auto box strange goings on

I can't it's to old (99/00) for my reader That's the next step before a possible rebuild
  9. I've got an old 530d auto which I'm sure needs the box rebuilt as I've only got reverse, no forward. But the other day I checked the level bolt and was low ie none trickling out and took about a litre. It then drove fine for a few days now it's the same ie no forward just reverse. Now if there's a leak it must be inside but where the hell is it going as there's nothing outside, I'm stumped.
  10. Should be in E39 bit sorry
  11. I agree Mike there's far to much electronic wizardry to go wrong, good when it works and a right pita when it doesn't. Then there's the build "quality" of new stuff... Almost everything was better made years ago.
  12. I don't know what you mean "about via" Yes they all have folk saying mainly good about all 3, probably the main reason Mackie can be over a 1000 more is they are a bigger place and give a 3 yr warranty whereas Cal and top gear give one so that has to budgeted into their (Mackie) price. I'll go to them tomorrow and talk with them all and take it from that. It'll need recovered there as there's no drive at all now, only reverse Im VERY tempted to convert to manual but it's a ball ache of a job plus the mech I use wouldn't do it and dont know if either of them would either.
  13. I know but they're easy about 1000-1500 extra ie 3-3500 cal and top gear are 2000 plus the guy that runs cal trans worked for Mackie
  14. For an auto gearbox rebuild or know anybody that has.. Caledonian Transmissions Top Gear transmissions
